S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Christine Cook for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Teaching was very fulfilling, but I struggled with knowing if I was really good at it, being a teaching assistant and substitute was in many was much more fulfilling and left me with less stress and self doubt. I love to teach and to help children, but I don’t meed to be the lead or be in control.

2. I love animals, nature and the outdoors. These are things I don’t get to or make time for often but God’s creation is so amazing and how he created everything to be so interdependent is awe-inspiring. I believe we have a responsibility to care for the earth and resources he entrusted to us.

3. God and family. My family is my first and true ministry and I am far from perfect but God gave them to me and I Place great value on my role in thier lives. I serve them, I love them unconditionally and I just enjoy being with them.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

In a room full of adults I feel lonely and riddled with anxiety. I enjoy working with children because they are so honest, wear thier hearts on thier sleeves and forgive easily. I learn more from them then I can ever teach them. They remind me that I am Gods child and how much he loves me. I feel a great need and responsibility to help nurture and protect them, to guard thier innocence and help them grow.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Children and youth. When looking for a church an active and nurturing children’s ministry was a must. I love Cornerstone and just want to be a part of what God is doing. My own son got saved at VBS Cornerstone. I was saved at youth camp the summer after 6th grade , it means a lot to me to be part of these types of ministry

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was saved at Camp Lurecrest the summer after 6th grade. I came home and immediately asked my parents to start looking for a church. My own experience eventually led both my parents to a deeper relationship with God.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Philadelphia Presbyterian Church mint hill nursery. Mint hill baptist church VBS and mother’s morning out. Central Church of God , Charlotte NC nursery, new Hope Baptist Church, new Salem Nc, women’s ministry and nursery

Years and level of commitment varied from the time I got saved until we moved to Bluffton. I was always very involved in youth ministry and nursery volunteers

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

World Changers Youth mission trip and work with Habitat for Humanity.

Becoming a mother.

Becoming and being a teacher for five years and building relationships with my students.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

I was sexually assaulted at 19. This attack resulted in a pregnancy, which I terminated. I was angry with God and then my self and will always live with the scars of that experience.

Being laid off 6 months pregnant from my 12 year Environmental Science Career.

Losing my teaching certificate due to failed teacher evaluations and failing in my teaching career.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. I have several ideas for Christian books for children and teens and have been an aspiring author for a long time but can’t find time to work on it.

4. It doesn’t seem God sized but I want to attend church regularly and consistently and feel a sense of belonging and purpose with regards to my church family. It is something that has been missing from my life for many years.

5. Being a teacher was the most meaningful career I’ve ever had. Im seeking a way to serve God in my current position and bloom where God has planted me and find fulfillment in my career again.
