Thank you Matthew D for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Teaching (84%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I don’t feel like this is accurate (in the way this would normally be taken). I don’t think that I communicate with the majority of people in a meaningful way. I like to explain things, but the majority of people don’t care about the same things / zone out if I try to explain things.

#2 Gift, Giving (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I give because I feel that it is important / as a discipline. It does not come naturally.

#3 Gift, Serving (65%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Service is my love language. It’s my most effective way to show someone that I care about them.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up in a Christian home, so I think I accepted Christ at 4 or 5. My faith solidified in college (I was a member of a very close bible study in my dorm).

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church
Bible Quizzing Coach
2006 – present

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Being involved in FM Bible Quizzing

Being involved in the bible study at college

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Being a part of a couple failed/downsized companies. Even when I felt like I was doing everything I could, it still didn’t fix things. It’s helped me learn that in some areas of life, failure is just a step along the way.

Making personal mistakes in college and learning that even “good” people need forgiveness.
