S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Marissa for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I feel that I have the gift of Mercy Showing because I have been blessed with a compassionate heart. I have a variety of life experiences that have enabled me to look at situations from several points of view which often leads me to a merciful and compassionate place.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I feel like encouragement goes hand in hand with the mercy. I have been in very dark places in life and I know exactly how it feels to need just one person to give a simple word of encouragement as well as knowing that the sun always rises. We are not meant to be left in our dark places.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Honestly, this one surprised me. I never viewed that as an area I would be competent in. However, it is a complete tie with Serving and Teaching so perhaps it was a fluke as I understand those two more in my life than I do Pastoring/Shepherding. But perhaps it’s also a gift I haven’t tapped into yet. I supposed only God knows the answer to this.

1. I love music and I love to sing. Just yesterday I had to look up the chord progressions for a song my son likes to sing in church which evolved into a two hour singing and worship moment with the two of us. That is joy to me because it combines my love for God, my love for music, and my love for my child.
2. I love reaching out to people, children OR adults, who are struggling with mental illness ranging from depression and anxiety to schizophrenia. I have always been fascinated with the science behind mental illness and the incredible stigma placed on people suffering. I love spending time with them, counseling them, just being there for them. I am incredibly passionate about people suffering from mental illnesses of any kind.
3. I am also passionate about teenagers. Being a teenager is an incredibly rough time in life and peer pressure and society are definitely not making this awkward transition from childhood to adulthood any easier. I think it is very important for this group to know that they have a voice, it can be heard, and their thoughts and opinions are important.
I suppose a blanket answer would be the broken, the abused, the lonely.
I feel like even churches still ignore people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, or mental health at all. They think that they can pat someone who is struggling with this on the shoulder and say “Chin up, you’ve got God,” and that alone should be enough. But when you’re that broken, you need to be SHOWN God’s love and shown that you are not alone. Anyone can pay a broken person on the back and say chin up, but how many take the time to get to know the person suffering and actually take time to show them God’s love and show them what the Bible says about how our hearts are feeling?

I would lightly say that I am skilled in music, teaching, and counseling if I were to pick three.
I have taught several music courses. I have taught several science courses. In previous church, I taught sign language and I taught our youth group.
Dedication. If I am given a task or challenge I am thoroughly dedicated to it.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.
Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline
[E]xperience
I come from a stricly atheist family. A friend invited me to a youth rally for his church. The music and the passion and the worship drew me in. In that moment I knew there was more and I’ve been growing ever since that night.
I led youth for two years. I taught a sign language class to church members. I sang on the worship team for 6 years. Due to the nature of what happens when you leave a church of this faith, I am not comfortable sharing the name or city, but it is a southern Illinois church.
Mission Trip to Uganda as a teacher
LifeSavers Retreat
National Science Symposium
Sexual assault
Childhood Abuse
The mental health issues that arise because of the two aforementioned negative life experiences.
