S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Melissa Foster for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Prophecy (78%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have seen things shown to me come to pass.

#2 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love to spread joy and make people laugh. I’ve always loved to entertain people in my circle of influence and recognize the signs of darkness and depression because of my own experience. Always routing for and advocating for the underdog , underappreciated and overlooked because I can personally relate.

#3 Gift, Teaching (59%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I believe I am capable to teach even though I don ‘t have any experience outside of raising my child and mentoring young women.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I have a heart for young women that are in my circle of influence. I have a serious compassion for young woman who have potential to rise above their circumstances and love to help them navigate the world around them sharing my resources and knowledge. Often warning them of dangers and sharing my life failures in hopes they make smarter choices.

2. I love ministering in song although I’m very very shy . Most people wouldn’t know that I have a fear of singing publicly. Once I get passed my nerves and anxiety I truly love that people have been blessed because of my obedience to allow God to use me as His vessel.

3. I really enjoy making people laugh and entertaining people. It may seem trite but I get Joy not so much from the attention but the ability to suspend reality. I’ve often use my antics to deflect, distract people from stressful tense awkward circumstances. If I can change the atmosphere or lighten the mood I feel really accomplished.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I like older youth such as teens and senior high youth.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I’m concerned about the engagement of or members including myself. I don’t know that I have the ability or the desire to commit to any board or committee as they are currently functioning. I’ve always wanted to join a board but not sure about the reception of a unconventional voice, the lack of respect from certain members in control and wasted energy and time. Having limited time, money and energy makes it hard for me to want to join or commit to something that wouldn’t be effective or appreciated. I’m not as refined nor have the patience to be politically correct in certain situations that I’ve witnessed and heard about.

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was raised in the Baptist and Pentecostal Church as my parents went to different churches. Being the youngest I had to go with my mother who was Pentecostal. I was saved at a young age and “fire baptized in the Holy Spirit” in my late teens. I resented the church and everything that was over the top religious. Religiosity turned me away from the church and life brought me back to Christ as a young adult.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Choir member from almost birth (Zion, Living Word World Ministries and then I came to Fellowship). Never formally held any positions in the church. Youth volunteer at FMBC. Work with various church activities and help ( Food ministry serving food, Church Garden, food give-away)

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Having my child

My immediate family and how close we are

Homeownership as a low income single mother with no assistance BUT GOD

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Surviving and coming out of an abusive relationship

Being bullied as the “only black” student/neighbor then rejected and shunned by my own when the demographics of my neighborhood and school changed.

Being diagnosed and struggling with an extreme case of Graves Disease at 15 that altered my academic experience. That ripped the remaining self -confidence, academic motivation and filled me with a quiet anger with God questioned Christianity.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. To create free housing for single mothers who are above the poverty line but still struggle to make ends meet. Housing that meets the needs of the family ( counseling, career counseling, daycare)

4. Opening my own business that is successful enough to expand and employ my community. Eventually taking back the services/products that others provide and profit off of. (haircare, nail salons…ect.)

5. Create cooperatives in the inner Cities (Grocery stores, gas stations, malls, manufacturing cooperatives) that would employ, eliminate crime and violence and increase homeownership and restore the black communities. Side note Cooperatives give people ownership and they would care about what they are vested in. The employees are able to sustain and maintain a reasonable life for themselves and their families and no one person or executive is rich while those that work for the company can barely feed themselves.
