S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Melissa Stewart for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. [H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I truly do love to help others! It brings me joy to see students or people complete a task they have struggled with, or to see them smile because they enjoyed me visiting/helping them with something.

2. I love spending time with my family. It can be just eating a meal together or watching a movie. There is something very comforting and fulfilling about spending time with those you love.

3. I love exercising and being active. I really enjoy playing volleyball, running, walking, etc.. I always feel good after one of these activities.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I like to work with youth (high school age) or people my own age the best.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I would be open to playing hand bells again in church once I figured out a schedule with Eli. I would possibly want to help out with vacation bible school or activities with the high school age group. I am excited that the church already does some events with OTHS students but I hope that the church continues to do more.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was born in the church. I would say I have been a Christian my entire life, but I really encountered Christ when I switched schools between 5th and 6th grade. My family wasn’t planning on moving at that time but a friend told us to attend an open house for the new school and we went on a whim. Once there, it really seemed like the school would be a better fit and I really felt God telling me to go there. I felt that I became closer to God and that I listened more to God after that.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

I do not have much ministry experience. I did play in a praise band at Troy Lutheran Church in Troy, IL when I was in middle school. I did this for about 2-3 years.

I played in the hand bell choir at this church for a few months in 2016 around my coaching schedule.

I am not sure if these last two things are considered ministry experience but I will add them in. I help chaperone OTHS students on their outing to Kohl’s. This is something Dan Cox runs. It allows these students who would not get very many presents at Christmas to purchase items they need from money donated by teachers, students, and parents. I also enjoy buying gifts for kids at Christmas. I know I have done that at O’Fallon UMC for a few years.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Attending Holy Cross Lutheran School shaped me as a young girl.

Attending McKendree University and playing on their volleyball team definitely shaped me.

Most of all, teaching at OTHS has shaped me. I have learned a great deal from my students and other teachers.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

My Dad emotionally abused my family.

Parents divorced when I was a young adult.

Family tension in my Dad’s family.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. To play in the hand bell choir regularly to serve and honor God!

4. Volunteer at Vacation Bible School in some way.

5. Go on a Missionary Trip
