[E]xperience

It took me a long time to come to the realization that I am a newly born Christian. I have been involved in church for 90% of my life. I was raised in church, taught about the, what I call 30,000 foot view of what it meant to be a Christian and what one must do. At age 7 I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, looking back on it and having the feeling that I do just recently. I think it was a motion that I went through because I thought that was what I was supposed to do. I don’t remember ever having that feeling of the Holy Spirit crashing into me like a car into a brick wall. It wasn’t until I was 34 when I got back in to church after a 12 year break from organized religion that I know fully understand the true meaning of salvation and what it has done for me. When I say the Holy spirit hits you, I mean he hits you like a heavy weight boxer. I have never felt more alive and more motivated to share the feeling I have with others. I have found that learning and education in God’s word is what continues to fuel my spiritual fire along with new and exciting prospects of reaching others. I am still in awe of how long it took me, all the while believing I was a Christian to finally feel the true power and wonder of God and the grace that he has poured out on my life. I want this feeling for everyone and I hope to not only help ignite the flame of Jesus in unbelievers, but to make raging fires out of the believers who already possess that flame.
