S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Michael Leary for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.
Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline
[E]xperience
I grew up in the church and around age 11 or so felt like I had reached a point that I understood the meaning of Christ’s death on the cross and the idea of salvation, so its then that I felt like I truly began my walk with Him.
Assistant Worship Leader at Bethel Church of the Nazarene in State College, PA, during college academic years from 2004-2007 and at Pensacola First Church of the Nazarene in Pensacola, FL, from 2013-2016
Worship Leader onboard USS George H.W. Bush (aircraft carrier) from 2016-2018 – led total of 33 band members in planning, preparation, and execution of worship sets for 40 Contemporary Worship services and 4 worship nights while deployed
Marrying my wife and having our little girl
The continual support and life involvement of my parents/family (I know this isn’t one specific experience, but instead an “experience” that I’ve had over and over that has absolutely shaped me into who I am)
Learning guitar and overcoming initial apprehension to play/sing in front of others (building confidence)
Being deployed and being stationed away from family/loved ones- it was a good experience in a lot of ways, but was very difficult to be away from family, so I feel for those who can’t be with the important people in their life
Any time I may have been made fun of…I really feel for kids that are made fun of or made to feel as if they are not valuable or important
Losing the “big game”, losing job, feeling defeated or inadequate
Wrapping It Up
The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?
1. My Relationship with GOD
2. My Relationship with Others
- Putting Your Spouse First
- Your Kids Second
- Everyone Else After those
3. To lead worship every week and disciple the band members, helping them grow in their walk with Christ
4. To give “face lifts” to churches that could be considered lagging or behind-the-times, help make them more appealing to today’s generation
5. Organize, Plan and Execute large-scale conferences on topics like Identity in Christ, etc
