S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Amy Miller for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

3. Creating

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I am not particularly comfortable with adults until I know them fairly well. I don’t think there is any age of people I dislike working with. I like working with people who are trustworthy, enthusiastic, and let others take care of their responsibilities without a lot of interference.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I think our church needs to grow. I was pleased to hear that you were not put off by an older congregation. It would be wonderful to have a large, thriving children’s program, but there is nothing wrong with a thriving older congregation. I am looking forward to hearing more about your plans for the music program.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I don’t believe that I have ever had a “knocked off my horse” moment. It was always just a fact. I was a very involved Lutheran all of my life, but coming to Wellspring six and a half years ago has deeply affected how I think and act as a Christian.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Calvary Lutheran Church, Modesto since 1976. Taught Sunday School, VBS, Church Councils, music committee, directed bells and chimes.

Wellspring since June 2014. Subbed for Sunday School, RFKC home team, taught music at VBS, children’s bell performances, rector search committee.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Working successfully with children.

Coming to Wellspring.

Realizing that I can function purposefully in a group.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Having difficulty connecting with people.

Tremendous difficulties during the last few years at my former church.
