Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.
Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
[E]xperience
I grew up in the Catholic church as a young girl. After I was married, my husband and I attended a non-denominational church and that is when my learning and growing as a Christian really happened. I was re-baptized about 12 years ago.
Children’s Ministry teacher, teachers assistant: Mountainview Christian Church in Highlands Ranch, CO, 3 years. Hospital visitation team for 1 year (helped to develop the program before moving to Fort Collins.) I volunteered at various times on the Welcome Committee and as a table leader for Women’s Ministry. I planned and arranged music for a Women’s retreat on occasion. Sang in choir for a short time.
Theater Arts Director for five years for the yearly Children’s Christmas program, Mountainview Christian Church, Highlands Ranch, CO
My husband and I were lifegroup leaders for about 4 years with one group and assistant leaders in another group for 3 years.
My growing up with a single mother and a father not in the picture. Helped me with humility and allowed me to be gracious and giving to others.
My love for working with children and the various times I could teach them, direct them in musicals or mentor them.
I enjoyed working with young teens in a church outreach program in the inner city of Denver working with Spanish students. These children lived in poverty and we helped provide opportunities for them to learn about Jesus, serve Jesus and others and take them to a summer camp to grow with others in Jesus. We helped support them at Christmas and with food and clothing.
It was difficult trying to help a couple in our lifegroup that were going through a divorce. They didn’t want to talk about it or receive our help, choosing just to ignore it and continue divorce proceedings. It left our whole lifegroup so sad by this.
I have witnessed unfortunate events happen in the church that caused division and a pastor to leave. Friendships were strained and we had to rebuild. It was not fun!
Sometimes there would be problems with organization and communication with paid staff members and volunteers in terms of carrying out the direction of running a program. Is it staff led or volunteer led? And all the problems that can happen because of that.
Wrapping It Up
The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?
1. My Relationship with GOD
2. My Relationship with Others
- Putting Your Spouse First
- Your Kids Second
- Everyone Else After those
3. I would like to open a facility that caters to the elderly and those with Alzheimer’s disease. A safe place where they could relax and have planned classes and excursions. Giving them the opportunity to engage and do things they love as well as give the family a well needed break.
4. Help children and women that are human trafficked
5. Sometime I would like to do my first missions trip.
