[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Developing relationships – Both personal/intimate relationships (family, close friends) but also with those I interact with throughout my week

2. Discovering God in new ways – I enjoy discovering who God is and how He evolves as my life changes and as I grow older

3. I enjoy writing – sharing my perspectives and ideals about what God has revealed to me about various topics.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I enjoy working with teenagers the most because they are venturing closer to adulthood. I had key people who mentored me growing up and I want to be that to them.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

The biggest challenge for the Church is making the Bible relevant to younger generations, so that they hunger for the truth within.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was raised in a Christian home, but it was a way of life, not just something “we did”. I officially, accepted Christ as my savior at a Youth Camp when I was in junior high (I believe).

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

I was a Voluntary Youth Leader at White Tanks Baptist Church in Buckeye AZ from 2005-2011.

Voluntary Youth worker at Mountain View Church, Queen Creek AZ from 2015-2019

Camp Counselor in 1998-2000 at my Uncle’s Church’s camp in West Branch Michigan

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Moving to Arizona in 2005, because while I was family-centric, God has shown me that the world is a much bigger place.

Growing up with several uncles that were pastors and having a family that lived a life that evolved around Christ in how they lived their lives.

For 2 years, I took care of my cousin’s horses, while it might seem insignificant from the outside. It was something new that I could invest myself into every day, regardless of schedule, weather, or other responsibilities. It was a quiet place.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Elementary school into Junior High School was tough, because physically, I was in an awkward transition – getting glasses, having a chipped front tooth, raised in a low-income family, and being emotional on top of it all. Looking back it taught me to be comfortable in my own skin, and to understand that people draw attention to the insignificant to drive their own significance.

Separation/Divorce with my first wife was the period of time that shaped me the most. It was also the most difficult time, but it was an exercise of growth where I had to experience that God was bigger, and at the same time I was accountable for my choices, and those choices had consequences.

While I was raised in a Christian home, I was raised in a legalistic Christian home to some extent. There was a lot of emphasis on Biblical principles, Biblical living, and doing the right thing because it is the right thing. There was not much teaching on what to do if you fall, make the wrong choices, or choose to go away from the church. There was a lot of judgment, accusation, and labeling. If you were in the “clique” then you were praised, if you weren’t then you were criticized.
