S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Moriah Floyd for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Evangelism (81%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have never been ashamed of my faith and it brings me great joy to share it with others around me. I also believe I scored the highest in this area because I grew up in a church that was evangelism-heavy and spent a lot of time on the streets praying and ministering to anyone who would listen, especially among the homeless community.

#2 Gift, Mercy Showing (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I think I have always had a heart for the underprivileged and for service – it is easy for me to desire to stand in the gaps for those that are in need. I think I also have a heart for showing grace to unbelievers and hearing their story and offering encouragement.

#3 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
In this area, I believe that I am a generally upbeat and positive person, as well as being firm in my own convictions and I cannot help but share those qualities with those that I encounter

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Being in community with people that I love – whether it be through eating together, bringing them into my home, casual things like playing cards, generally just getting to know others.

2. I love learning – being in the classroom and growing in knowledge through reading are two of my favorite things. I currently studying Pre-Med and Theology through GCU and learning about both of those things interests me deeply and I am so motivated to pursue living in light of my studies.

3. Being outdoors. Hiking, backpacking, and camping are ways that I refuel and in addition, get to know others. I also love playing sports and engaging in outdoor activites.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I like working alongside other energetic and positive people, or really just anyone who is passionate about what they are doing (whether its exciting or not). I also really enjoy working with a multi-generational team and getting to spend time with people who aren’t exactly like me (not just college students).

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I am passionate about meeting needs within the homeless community as well as helping people transition off the streets. I also enjoy working with kids and filling any needs that may be there! Overall I would love to serve wherever there is a need.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was raised in a Christian home and have been walking with the Lord all of my life. I have never felt a strong push to “make my faith my own” because I feel like it always has been – even as a young child I have felt connected to God and that I wasn’t just living through my parents’ faith.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Living Streams Church – children’s ministry (3’s – preschool), 2017-18

New Life City Church (Albuquerque, NM) – children’s ministry (preschool), Youth Group chaperone/helper, greeter, homeless ministry, food pantry. Young childhood- 2017

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Medical mission trip to Uganda when I was 15: this drew me to medicine as a career and showed me what my life could look like by committing myself to a life of ministry.

Choosing to come to GCU: by moving to Phoenix I have discovered who I am, met my best friends, stepped closer to a career and have been pushed in my faith.

Working as a salmon processor in Alaska: by far the hardest thing that I have done, but through this experience I was able to spend a lot of time with people from all walks of life and by being in an environment with all nonbeleivers I think this solidified my own faith and gave me a sense of urgency of sharing Jesus that I had never had before.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

High school sports injuries: as silly as it sounds now, growing up in a home where basketball was life, being set back by a few major injuries (hip surgery, shoulder surgery) during high school set the stage for some of the most impactful struggles of my life. During those times of immobility I learned more about my identity outside of sports – and came to see that who I am in Christ is not determined in any way on my own capabilities.

Death of a childhood friend: I think this experience changed the way that I view life and its frailty, but also gave me a connection with anyone who is grieving and showed me the importance of different seasons that we go through in our lives.

Taking in a woman and being stolen from: growing up, my parents were very involved in street ministry and we would often take in and house people temporarily. I grew particularly fond of one young mother and when she stole from our family to buy drugs and then didn’t want to see us anymore, it was very hard for me to understand. I think this helped me to see that we may not always see the fruits of our ministry, but that’s not important – all that matters is loving without expectation.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Find someone younger than me to build a relationship with/mentor

4. Long-term missions/living overseas (after graduating medical school)

5. Short-term mission trip or internship such as YWAM
