S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Katie for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I enjoy talking to or texting people to share with them God’s truth in a difficult time. I like to remind people of hope and use the Bible or my own experiences to spur them on. I ask for the Holy Spirit to work and give me words to say to be effective.

#2 Gift, Giving (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
This has been more difficult but I continually pray for God to use my time, energy, and money for his work. I also pray for a happy heart and motives. Not that people see me and I get credit but that God does. It is hard for me to give money but I want to help people in need so badly.

#3 Gift, Mercy Showing (59%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
This was a surprise. I haven’t thought about this gift or know what it is. I strongly desire to help those in need and go out if my way to love them.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I want a big family that my husband and I can pray for, help equip, and raise to be light. I know that I can’t make my children Christians but I pray that God would use me to help them grow and learn about him. I love to play and be with my husband and son. Laughing with them is one of my favorite things.

2. It feels so good when I text someone or talk to them and take a risk to encourage them and then they respond that those words were exactly what they needed to hear.

3. Taking something old and gross and making it clean and pretty brings joy. We remodeled our old and gross house. I like to help others do the same with whatever they are working on.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I have been a kindergarten teacher and love to work with young children. I think that God has given me the ability to take something difficult to understand and find tiny words to explain it.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Money issues concern me. I love to save money and am frugal. The unknown of money or how it is being used can be a concern. I try not to be controlling but know that I am good at efficiency and taking care of items/money. Women in the church has also been a concern. Respect and letting women have a defined role feels like a gray area in the Bible.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I asked Jesus into my heart when I was three and was baptized when I was in 5th grade. I grew and rededicated my life to Jesus at a Christian youth camp. I have struggled with feeling like I am enough or safe in this world. I also struggled to find my identity, and it wasn’t until the end of college that I started to see God in a different way. My husband and I moved across the country on a church plant and grew more through that experience than any other. We give God our finances, son, future, and success. That’s really hard some days but God’s grace and love are constantly growing and teaching us to be more like him.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

I have served in different church nurseries and with young children since I was ten.

I was a camp counselor at camp Wildwood.

I have been on several short term mission trips throughout the country.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

My junior high Life skills teacher talked with me and a friend consistently and made us feel important and had fun with us.

Basketball in junior high and high school taught me leadership, commitment, and how to be a team player.

Bible quizzing was something I did as I grew up and helped with after I graduated. I learned how to study the Bible and expand my mind.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

I have had family members and friends tell me that they have been abused and close family trust felt broken with that news.

I tried to pray for someone and they responded harshly when I wasn’t praying for them specifically the way that they needed.

Recently small group leaders have been difficult to be under but are teaching us how we hope to lead a group in the Future.
