S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Cary Myers for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
God has blessed our family with financial teachers and interest in finance

#2 Gift, Serving (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
It is the way I was brought up, it’s more of a blessing to help others than to focus on your own needs. This gets me in trouble!

#3 Gift, Teaching (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I was picked by the previous teacher as his replacement, but through struggling through many growth groups, it has forced me to reflect on what the bible means to me, and hopefully help others who are very slow to step up to the next level of discipleship. I don’t really think that I have the gift of teaching, but I do enjoy sharing and discussing topics of real life as it pertains to scripture.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I came to Christ early in our marriage at a Amway worship service, the speaker was very powerful and God was already working on me, I resisted as long as I could, but gave in and surrendered.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

I have been in the shadows at BBC for a long time, Louis Cabrera asked if I could start leading the class once in awhile…He tricked me! Just kidding, I had been nudged by the HS many times and turned other offers down, thinking it was to scary.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Working Hard with a positive attitude

Great family support, was given the opportunity to purchase business where I worked with 3 partners. 14 years ago!’

Read the book by Dave Ramsey, changed our financial future!

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

I was attacked, beat up a bit when we lived in Austin. Part of the reason for moving to D.S.

3 suicides in the immediate family

Fathers mental illness challenges over many years
