Thank you Nathalie Coward for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Evangelism (93%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have learned how to make the Gospel attractive and relevant. I use transparency, testimony, and “real talk” to show others who Christ is to me; I then offer to walk with them on their own journey towards discovering Him for themselves.

#2 Gift, Administration (84%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
To be honest, I took another personality test (16personalities.com) and I’m listed as a Commander. Administration and leadership are at the core of who I am. It’s not necessarily that I enjoy telling people what to do, it’s that I find it difficult to remain in a setting where nothing is being done. I have a keen eye for identifying others’ gifts and talents and showing/encouraging them how to use them for God’s glory and their unique purpose.

#3 Gift, Giving (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am passionate about giving. It’s so easy to just say “I’ll pray for you,” but much more effective to offer tangible help to the degree you can. I look at giving as an extension of faith-it’s the active part of what I say I believe in. It shouldn’t be done in expectation of praise or for it to be returned. Of course, prayer is always welcome and accepted, but when you’re going through a desperate time and need money, help, food, shelter, clothing, etc., tangibly offering what you have is being an extension of Christ in the flesh. Giving is also a heart check. Often times, I ask myself, “am I giving because it’s expected? Or, am I giving because I truly look at it as an act of worship that I am privileged to take part of?” It’s not easy, especially when things are tight, but that’s when I’m reminded of Who my Source is and who gives me the ability to have something to give in the first place.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Making Jesus famous through my life, actions, and service to others; this includes using my platform to speak, write, coach, mentor, volunteer, and teach Biblical truths and how they can be applied to our real-life circumstances, without being so “churchy” that I lose my audience. Don’t get me wrong though, I believe in checking everything against Scripture and making sure I’m offering His truth and not my opinion, even when it’s uncomfortable.

2. I really love working with youth and women. I love sharing my story, hearing theirs, and reminding them of their original intent in Christ. I build relationships pretty easily, and make my circles feel comfortable, because I’m willing to get transparent very early in the process. By taking off my mask, and sharing my true identity in Christ, it allows them to do the same and ask questions/share truths, they wouldn’t normally feel at ease doing.

3. Travel and culture! I love learning new languages and using them as an extension of my skill set for the Kingdom. The world is so much bigger than our neighborhoods and I’m determined to see it, share it, and bring Christ wherever I venture.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Over the years, I’ve found myself most drawn to high school youth and women in their 20’s-40’s.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I’m interested in serving the youth ministry and getting involved in women’s ministry. I’m also open to helping out/attending JIBE, and any others I might be a good fit for. I don’t want to overcommit however, especially being a new member, so I’m open to taking it in stages and in areas of greatest need.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I accepted Christ into my heart as Lord and Savior in my third grade Sunday School class, at the age of 8. I was baptized in the fifth grade after completing a series of Baptism Foundation classes. I have only ever known a life submitted to Christ for as long as I can remember; of course, this by no means implies perfection, but I don’t have the testimony of having left the fold and then coming back to Christ. This walk has not been easy. It’s been lonely, challenging, and has continually killed my pride, plans, and perception of what I thought my life should be. Daily, I lay down my life and ask Christ to lead me…we don’t always go where I want, but I’ve decided that I’d rather be uncomfortable with Him, than in a preferred place without Him.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Nursery Ministry: Highland Church (Pastor Subash Cherian); Jamaica, NY; teacher; 5 years

College Ministry: New Birth Missionary Baptist Church (Bishop Eddie L. Long); Atlanta, GA; Spelman Campus Representative; 4 years

Youth Ministry: New Birth Missionary Baptist Church (Bishop Eddie L. Long); Atlanta, GA; Middle School/High School Girls Youth Leader; 7 years

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Becoming the first in my family to attend college. (Spelman College) It gave me an opportunity to stand on the foundation of faith I’d been raised on, and take it to another level of application. I joined New Birth Missionary Baptist Church under my late spiritual father, Bishop Eddie L. Long, and witnessed a radical upsurge in my discipleship, apologetics, and evangelism. My experience there, made me the Christian I am today.

My first marriage. I learned how to submit in Christ, be a wife, and the process of dying to one’s self and taking up the cross in service to Christ and my husband. I learned the true meaning of the word “compromise.”

Publishing my first book, Deep Waters: Trusting God When Your Feet Can’t Touch Bottom. It was a compilation of my experiences through the valley of the shadow of death, whilst highlighting how to apply faith when everything else seems to fail. I was so proud of myself for continuing to press on, despite such a painful life disruption. It launched the work I do now and reminds me of why I do what I do.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Being a child from a single parent home. I learned (and am still learning) the freedom found in forgiveness and the legacy I want to leave for my future children.

Burying my first husband after only 16 months of marriage. His death absolutely shattered my heart, but the recovery process of healing and getting to know Christ intimately on a level I could only have dreamed of, has made the worst day of my life, the best day of my life.

I can’t think of anymore (gratefully).

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Establish my firm, Pretty Big Faith, into a full-fledged foundation; complete with an educational arm, philanthropic division, and global connection.

4. Move abroad for 6 months at a time; living amongst diverse peoples, learning their languages and offering my services and salvation to Christ.

5. Pay off my churches’ debt. Extend my giving to family (buy my mom and aunt a home debt-free), establish scholarships for my nieces and nephews. Extend the current scholarship I established and partner with World Vision, UN Women, and the like to ensure those who need it, get money and Christ.
