S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Olivia Shaw for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Evangelism (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Life without Jesus is hopeless. Although I sometimes get frustrated because I feel I could share better (or I don’t want to “mess it up”), I often feel prompted to share Jesus with others, or parts of my story and how it relates to others. Also, I home school my children. A main reason I do this is to teach them of Jesus and to encourage a loving relationship with him.

#2 Gift, Teaching (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I enjoy learning God’s truths and sharing them with others! There is so much freedom in God’s loving truths and boundaries. Understanding God’s design helps us love each other better 🙂 Also, I LOVE to learn!

#3 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (65%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
People often recognize that I “find the good in others.” I enjoy “seeing” people, giving compliments, encouraging, etc. This comes very naturally to me.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Learning! Discovering! Traveling! Reading! And sharing what I am learning with others — hoping to ignite something in them as well! This is one reason I really enjoy homeschooling my kiddos 🙂

2. Exercising — being active and being outside! And encouraging others to be active and outdoors, as well! Also, healthy living — living and doing things as God designed (i.e., natural child birth, avoiding medication, preventative living)

3. Organizing! I like everything to have a home 🙂 I also enjoy making lists, developing systems for my home, etc. HOWEVER, I like doing this in hopes to have more TIME with those I love 🙂

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Children and fellow peers (women)

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I’ve known of Jesus for as long as I can remember — and also for as long as I can remember, I’ve been asking Him into my heart 😉 However, I haven’t really lived for Jesus until later in my life. High school I claimed Jesus, but didn’t live within His boundaries and truths. In college, I was searching and confused. I wanted to find a Jesus that accepted everyone and that allowed all the “good” people to go to heaven. Finally, Curtis and I joined a business community that embraced God’s word as truth, and taught biblical leadership. It was then that I finally accepted the bible as truth and slowly began embracing it, and living by it.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Children’s ministry @ 1Mosaic (teaching and helping 3 yr olds up to Scripture Savages; VBS); Children’s ministry @ First Baptist in Brooklyn, MI (taught 1st-3rd graders about Elijah and Elisha for one month)

Taught breakout sessions on personalitys @ 1Mosaic (at women’s retreat and at MGroup)

Participate in various opportunities to serve (i.e. Share the Warmth, Catherine Cobb Christmas party)

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Curtis and my involvement in a business/community building endeavor for 6+ years. Our achievement levels was determined on how well we as leaders learned, applied and developed relationships. It influenced my decision to home school my children, the type of wife I strive to be, and ultimately led me back to God’s word and led Curtis to Jesus. Plus, it was filled with lots of fun and friendships, although struggles and heartbreak.

Birthing my babies naturally, and 3 of the 4 at home. It shouldn’t have to be a such a radical thing for women, but it was incredible to experience that type of power God designed within the birthing process. To be able to endure labor, and then experience the unmedicated joy of the immediate love and relief afterwards, was incredible and empowering (in a good way :). Having completely natural childbirths allowed me to experience the most intense feelings I’ve ever felt. It didn’t end there 🙂 Nursing my babies — and dying to self HOURLY, sometimes by the minute it seemed — as I was needed to nurture them and develop them, was very humbling. Although overwhelming at times, it was exactly what I needed to begin the process of living for something other than my schedule, agenda, needs, wants, etc.

Encouraging communities — God’s always given people in my life that were encouraging — my parents, teachers, our business community, within my homeschooling community, and now 1Mosaic.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

I unfortunately had sexual experiences at a very, very young age that influenced choices I made later in regards to sexuality. I then continued to make poor choices as a teenager and young adult. This has fueled my passion for educating others as I learn God’s design for sexuality (for much of my life, I grew up believing what happened to me was considered “normal,” a “healthy” part of childhood). Although I HATE the sin — I can have compassion for those that struggle overcoming the consequences of a broken, sexual past.

I had an eating disorder. I literally was addicted to food and my body image. I never thought I’d be free to have a “normal” relationship with food. But I do — and the only thing I can credit it this to is God’s grace, sincerely. This freedom came even before I started to commit myself to God’s word and living by the Holy Spirit. I understand the struggle is REAL — and although I don’t know exactly how to counsel people through this to break the addiction, I can encourage them to be “healthy,” see their beauty, and also sincerely empathize with the hold food (and “worldly” images) has in their lives.

The humbling experience of being a Mom 🙂 In some ways, I’ve been the Mom I never wanted to be. My plan was to get all my ducks in a row and have this incredible relationship with God BEFORE I became a Mom. Well, I became pregnant BEFORE I got married. Not only am I am mom to our 4 children, but I have two “bonus” (step) sons. Having a blended family has been tough and I would not choose it for any of my children. Simply being a Mom has revealed MANY heart issues (i.e. impatience, idols of comfort, anger, etc). I am able to have compassion with step Moms, the children in blended families, as well as just Moms in general! Prior to being a Mom I had lots of theories 😉 And how I’m literally humbled everyday, very aware of my need for Jesus! I do believe in the hope of Christ and that we can die to self, not being victim to our feelings, desires, etc.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Serve in ministry alongside my husband (and maybe including our children) — not sure exactly “what” this would look like (i.e. biblical counseling, mission trips) — but I love Jesus, and Curtis!

4. Have an organization in Lenawee County that helps restore and/or redeem victims of human trafficking. Maybe pair this with educating people on what God’s design is for sexuality.

5. I’d love to regularly travel with my family and serve orphaned children, or those living in poverty.
