S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Patti Driscoll for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
My husband and I tithe, even though we are living on 1990’s income in 2018. It can be tight, but we know that everything we have is from God and the least we can do is return 10% to Him. We live frugally and drive 9 and 13 year old vehicles in order to do so. I love writing the checks out to PVUMC before I pay any bills at the beginning of the month.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I volunteer at church not to gain recognition – I’m working for God and His glory, whether I’m shredding papers in the office, filing invoices, writing encouraging notes to people or acting as Altar Guild chair. My calling is in a supportive capacity.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I think this one is out in left field. I let people know I’m a Christian. I invite people to my church. I rejoice when they come. But I’m way too introverted to be an evangelist. I think I encourage more than evangelize.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.
Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
[E]xperience
Attended Methodist churches since a baby, off and on, mostly off. I wasn’t really a Christian until about 2 1/2 years ago. It was during Lent, I decided to read the whole Bible. I read that if you draw near to the Lord, He will draw near to you. I did that and He has been changing me and growing me ever since. One step at a time. If anyone had told me 3 years ago that I would be spending up to 2 hours every morning, studying His word, or getting together with friends to do our own personal Bible studies and to research commentaries and discuss what Bible verses mean, I would’ve thought they were nuts. But here I am. Saying yes to things that the devil tells me I’m not equipped to do and then praying for Holy confidence to do them. I wasn’t one of the 99 and It took me over 60 years to understand how much the Lord loves me.
Not sure if “ministry experience” means in what capacity have you served and where??
Leominster United Methodist Church, Leominster, Massachusetts, 20 years:
Board of Trustees, SPRC, taught Sunday school, directed Christmas Play and Vacation Bible School. Pastors Don Coburn, Pastor Stephen Stolle.
Wesley Chapel, Godwin, NC, 5 years:
President, Vice-President and Treasurer of UMC, nursery volunteer, Fall dinner and silent auction, prepared food for every Wednesday night supper, read scripture during Sunday morning service. It was a very small country church – we all pitched in. Pastors Randall Partin, Paul Smith, Alex Maultsby & Kyle Burrows.
Lunenburg United Parish, Lunenburg, Massachusetts, 2 years:
Communion steward, Stewardship Committee (I think…)
Can’t remember the pastor’s name – Andy something.
Raising two loving daughters
Going to community college in my 30’s and learning that even though I didn’t do my best as a youngster in public school, I was fairly intelligent and that if I worked hard, I could get straight A’s. I maintained a 4.0 GPS while in college.
Learning how freeing it is to forgive
Living with my mentally ill mother
Living with my angry and bitter father
Divorcing my husband of 13 years and losing myself in the process
Wrapping It Up
The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?
1. My Relationship with GOD
2. My Relationship with Others
- Putting Your Spouse First
- Your Kids Second
- Everyone Else After those
3. I’ve never been good at setting goals, but I will continue to grow as a Christian, and since I’ve only just begun, this is huge to me. Every morning I pray “Show me the way I should go Lord, for to You I entrust my life”. Where He leads me and what He leads me to do is yet to be determined.
4. Just assumed chair of Altar Guild. It’s a big job. I am giving Him my all and right now, that’s all I can handle.
5. I make blessing bags to hand out to homeless people. I would like to take it a step further, but I’m not sure what that would be right now.
