S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Brittany Patton for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (100%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I feel I have the gift of encouragement because I was given a heart for the downtrodden. I believe there is value in lifting believers as well as nonbelievers to a better place spiritually and emotionslly so they can better serve God.

#2 Gift, Teaching (100%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I feel I was given the gift of teaching because I am able to understand and communicate ideas in a logical manner. I can share God’s truth in a way which is comprehensible to others.

#3 Gift, Evangelism (96%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I feel I have the gift of evangelism because I see all people as people created and loveable by God. I am comfortable with people from all walks of life and desire to see them all in relationship with God.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I love to serve. Whether it is in a leadership role, a support role, or in day-to-day circumstances (helping somebody move, picking up something somebody dropped, etc.).

2. I love to seek out those who are often overlooked or looked down upon. Bringing God’s word and showing His love to the homeless, poor, addicted, forgotten, those who have given up – the “least of these”.

3. I love ministering to children. Fostering the childlike faith and thirst of young Christians as well as nurturing kids who may not have been introduced to biblical truths or the love of Christ in their home lives.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Almost impossible to answer. Some demographics will bring heartache, some offer fellowship, some are slower to change, some have problems which can be solved in a day, some will take years to resolve, but they are all people. And I love people.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

My main concerns are for children in dangerous (physical, emotional, and spiritual) circumstances, the large number of Christian youths who fall away in high school and college, and the lack of evangelism/ absence of the church across all communities.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up in a Christian household and grew in my personal relationship with God as I got older. I cannot cite the day or the moment, or even the age where I took personal responsibility for that relationship and the knowledge of God became a saving faith, but somewhere along the line it happened. I have heard that if you don’t have a “conversion experience” then you haven’t been saved yet. The truth is, I don’t have an experience or a story to share. But I can confess with 100% certainty and honesty that I am a believer in and follower of God, Jesus is my Savior, and the Holy Spirit is my indwelling helper.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

I have been involved in street ministries in Stafford, VA since 2012.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

The day I felt God’s call. I was 15 years old, studying French (to no avail) in the computer lab.

Working closely with my mom and sisters in our ministry.

Growing up in Japan (outside of any typical American communities or social structures) which I believe has given me a helpful perspective from which to view and serve communities in America.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Losing twin babies my family was fostering.

Losing an important relationship to drugs and alcohol.

Watching a family member fall by the way and dealing with the widespread consequences.
