S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Teresa Pope for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Teaching (84%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have a lot of experience teaching various age groups. In the late 70s and early 80s I taught teens and was a youth leader for approximately 11 years. Later in the 90s we began the AWANA program and I began as a Guard director and eventually became the Commander. Within the last 8 years I was Commander at our previous church for 5 years. I was the Nursery director and Sunday School teacher until we left. For 16 years I have trained all of our county’s poll workers prior to each election. I have taught in many Vacation Bible Schools.

#2 Gift, Evangelism (65%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have found that the older I get the easier it is to share what the Lord has done for me. I prefer that the witnessing be on a more personal level, based upon my experience. I would not hesitate to stand for what I believe, and I do not hesitate to remind others of what the Bible says when trouble is brewing. My deepest desire is to see my grandson and bonus granddaughters saved. I insert as many opportunities as I can to get Jesus into our activities and conversations! I led our daughter to the Lord on her 5th birthday as a result of nightly Bible readings and prayer.

#3 Gift, Giving (65%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I really don’t have a lot of money to give, but I do love to give time and material things whenever the need arises. Sometimes I just love to give just to bless someone! At my job I have created opportunities to give to our local food pantry with food drives and to the American Cancer Society with the publication of a cookbook.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Spending time with my grandson.

2. Bible studies – personal, and ladies group

3. Hobbies – Woodworking, painting, needlework, quilting, decorating

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

This depends upon the task. I feel a special connection with older women. I love babies!

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I would love to be a greeter and welcome people! Maybe work at the Welcome Center, change things up periodically. The first people you see when you enter a church will either make or break that first impression! I love singing in the choir. At our previous church my husband and I did specials.

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was saved when I was 10 at a VBS. The invitation was given every night and I went forward on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Finally, when an elderly lady pulled me aside and explained salvation to me then I understood. I was not raised in church, and my parents would not carry me. When I was a freshman in high school I went to a Christmas party at a church where I met my future husband. We began dating the summer before I was a junior in high school. He took me to church every time he was home from the Air Force. I was baptized in September of my junior year. The rest is history.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Pennville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Summerville, GA – Youth director/Sunday School Teacher; nursery worker; AWANA director/Commander; Member of the choir; Duets; PAC House (Coffee House) director; secretary of the church – within the years of 1977-2009.

South Summerville Baptist Church, Summerville, GA – Member of the Choir; AWANA Commander; Nursery director/teacher; Served on Homecoming Committee, Bylaws Committee, Flower Committee, Church Council 2009-2018

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Meeting my husband at a church, and through his encouragement getting involved and rededicating my life.

Becoming a mother allowed me to see into the hearts of parents and their struggles.

Becoming a grandmother allowed me to learn how to love without reserve, give with no thought of return, help in areas where I’m needed (sometimes sacrificially)

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Dangerous involvement in internet chatting back in the late 90s. Experiences that grew from that would allow me to write a best-selling novel. That experience allows me to recognize signs of trouble in others’ actions and words.

Personal financial mistakes – I can certainly direct others on what NOT to do!
