S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Laura Pearson for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.
Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace
Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.
Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility
[E]xperience
I would prefer to share this verbally, but essentially I grew up in the church and developed a personal relationship with Christ at 9 years old. I spent my late childhood and adolescence seeking wholeheartedly. My faith has been challenged and evolved over the past decade, but I’ve always believed God is good and that God redeems. I’m at a place now (since summer 2017) of digging in deeper after several years of distance.
Happening Ecumenical – Southwest Missouri – involved as a participant and high school leader 2004-2007
Icthus MSU – Student-led campus ministry; Girls’ ministry house resident – 2008-2009
Staff-Parish Relations Committee Member, Schweitzer UMC (Springfield MO), 2004-2007
Growing up in a comfortable, stable family life.
Healthy romantic relationships throughout my young adult life.
Traveling abroad through mission work, studying abroad, and the Peace Corps
My father’s 5-year struggle with Alzheimer’s, followed by his death in 2010 and the (positive) experience of seeing a community of faith rallying around my family when he passed.
In the Peace Corps, I became close with multiple people suffering from extreme poverty and some who had witnessed and experienced war-related violence. The struggles they had – and continue to have – constantly give perspective on my life and challenge me to be a more generous and encouraging person.
The suicide of my former best friend’s boyfriend at 15 years old.
Wrapping It Up

1. My Relationship with GOD
2. My Relationship with Others
- Putting Your Spouse First
- Your Kids Second
- Everyone Else After those
3. Make a home for children who need it (foster and/or adopt)
4. Continue developing a fulfilling and challenging career that uses the skills and education I’ve gained to date to make the world a better place for others
5. Strengthen the community around me by supporting programs, organizations, and people who fight the destructive forces of poverty, abuse, racism, and addiction
