S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Peg Aten for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Teaching (93%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love to teach, when I was a volunteer sp ed teacher aid I loved it, and they loved my classes. I have also been a group leader for bible study. But my best teaching is one on one in bible study/mentoring. I like that the best as you get to the meat and really get to know each other. Who is teaching who at some point?

#2 Gift, Evangelism (87%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Never would of guessed this, I tend to be very sensitive to non believers. Let my actions be my testimony be loud. If asked then I can jump in. I am not in your face with anyone ever, so I am very surprised. Maybe I didn’t answer so well.

#3 Gift, Giving (87%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Yes, I love to give, I will give when I see a need. I try to think of my money as God’s money first. So if He is prompting me to give then I listen and follow His lead. I live on SSD and have very little but God always provides for me. I don’t spend what I don’t have. So I think I have been a very wise with His income He has provided me. I don’t owe anyone and only buy what I have that month. Yes, I will go without to help someone else.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Living for the Lord daily looking to Him for what He wants me to do today. How I am supposed to be. I fail at this often but God is so forgiving. He has given me the gift of life and healed me from so much, so many miracles. I must show the world if the chance arises.

2. Praying with others, one on one is my most comfortable or in a small group. Not a large group like in church. But I am being stretched which is ok, a learning process like everything. Praying is a beautiful gift, so helping people understand the simplicity yet intimacy is far more than we could ever give anyone.

3. My old dogs, is my passion. Golden Retrievers, special needs, hospice, or seniors. I have done this for too many years to count, and too many dogs to count. A very special gift God has given me to share. I used to be a Hospice home care aide and saw 4-5 pts a day and had so many pts die with me. I miss it very much and loved it with all my heart. I know that God blessed me abundantly in that work.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Women, Disabled any age, I have a hx of abuse, so really have a passion to help women work thru that also to come thru to the healing side with Christ. Hx of suicide attempts sadly before belief, when I came to belief God is really who healed me from my mental break of all the painful past.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

LVCC was my last church, I had been there many years, I spoke up on some things that happened that were very wrong and really became a target of abuse. I tried to do all the things the bible says to do with no luck. I finally had to leave after 2yr of trying. I don’t think I am ready to be a member, still healing from LVCC dysfunction. I lead many, many ministries. I think God spoke to me last year, it was ok to get involved with MACC but to do something I had never done before. I got on Worship Team. I love expressing myself in worship. I am honored to be a part and to learn this new ministry. I am willing to help probably in other areas but live in WC, East Bay caring for my mom in the week, Home on weekends. I can do things by email or phone. I am not a mtg girl. I also am not interested in getting into the internal workings of the church at this time.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Sm Wm’s group, women came alongside me and mentored me, loved me, and accepted me no matter what. Showed me who Christ is. I am a big believer in mentoring. Their actions made me want what they had.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

BayMarin 90’s-2000’s? New Pastor came in and didn’t like people with disabilities and told me I could leave, he had no desire to help me fit in . I became dis in 99′ I worked with Joni & Friends to help staff but they weren’t willing for any changes. I had led Prayer, Nursery, Disability Group, Wm Group, Mentoring Group, Communion Set up each month, Food, Evening worship,

Lucas Valley Community Church, 2002?-15? Communion set up monthly, Lead Prayer Team for years, Lead Welcome Team years, open and locked church up every Sunday for years, read to pre-schoolers for years, food prep for homeless, was leader for food, Probably other things too thru the years. Served where needed.

When I left LVCC I felt very strongly God telling me to BE STILL, so I was and just attended churches. I was also in poor health again.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Oddly having an emotional break and living to talk to others about it. It brought me to Christ and now it is a miracle to be given to God with all the Glory. I am healed and there is no more emotional pain.

I remember after coming to Christ, learning to trust men, I had such a horrible life and men were never to be trusted. Marc, Evan, & Rod were men in the church that were safe. I learned that not all men were there to hurt me or abuse me. I still think of this and am in awe at how God works things to His glory in His perfect timing.

Learning life isn’t fair ever, but God is always with me every step. Being in pain and not having too much money, not being married or kids seems like what society says is the acceptable. I am so ok with who I am and all that I have.
I feel wealthy, I have Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. He is my strength, my all. I am happy most every day no matter what my pain level is, or how hard it is to care for my mom. I have a gift in caring for her even though it is probably the hardest thing as we are so different. But I want to be a servant to her.
I want to be God’s servant. An honor.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

see above I guess

My entire life has shaped me in compassion, as I survived the abuse.
