S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Debbie Euziere for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (84%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have always been an optimist and find it easy to share my enthusiasm for life with others. I am not afraid to speak in front of people or to share my opinion. I enjoy and often find myself in the role of encouraging people that are ill, suffering, in difficult situations, etc. (I many times wonder why I was not called to be a counselor). My positivity in itself and sense of humor serve me very well in my efforts to encourage others. God blessed me (or some may say cursed me) with the gift of gab.

#2 Gift, Administration (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am a pretty organized person. I try to think things through before beginning in order to avoid chaos. I am very picky about things being done “right” and work very hard (often taking on duties that others ignore or simply neglect). Being on time is very important to me; I hate to be late, and many times am not very tolerant of others’ tardiness. If someone commits to a task or responsibility, I expect them to follow-through.

#3 Gift, Giving (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Tithing is something that was instilled in me from my childhood. When you give to God, He returns your gifts tenfold. I also feel that it is my Christian responsibility to give of my time and talents, however small they may be. I many times feel that I overcommit, but do my very best to fulfill my promises and intentions. I’ve been advised all of my life by friends and family to “just say NO”, but I find that to be most difficult. I love people, am outgoing, many times loud, and affectionate. I often feel that my friendliness and affection make a difference in the lives of others.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I love to volunteer with the elderly, children, and to assist those who for whatever reason are hungry. I spent many years during my youth volunteering in nursing homes, and continued to visit many elderly residents in the homes where my brother lived for 14 years. I currently volunteer once a week with a first grade class in my to assist them with their reading, and I have coordinated corporate volunteer activities to assist the North Texas Food Bank.

2. I love to spend time with my family. God has blessed me richly and I thank Him each and every day for the family and friends with whom I was blessed.

3. I love to entertain. We have a large family and host MANY parties and activities in our home. Everyone always wants the party to be at our home, and (as mentioned above) I have a hard time with saying “no”. šŸ™‚

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I enjoy working with both men and women, and am perfectly comfortable with either gender. Of course, happy and funny people are my favs. Ag is not an issue in any way, shape or form.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I am concerned that many of the traditional activities that have been enjoyed by members of St. John’s for years could very easily fall to the wayside due to a lack of volunteers to WORK them. Many members are now elderly and are either no longer able to work, or feel that they have done their time. Many of the younger generation want to come and enjoy the festivities, but don’t seem to volunteer to help. The pool of candidates seems to be shrinking, and new blood is needed asap. I am excited that there are so many new families visiting and joining St. John’s, and am hopeful that they will love it as much as we all do, and will WANT to help the traditions continue.

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up in church and went regularly to services and youth activities. I was baptized as a teenager, and have a strong belief in the salvation offered by and through Jesus Christ. Fell away from the church during my 20s, but came back after marriage and the birth of our daughter. Active ever since.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

St. John’s since 1996. Active in Altar Guild for 20 years, the Women of St. John’s, taught Children’s Chapel, involved in youth activities as our daughter was growing up, created EYE. Always volunteered for clean up duties after receptions, etc.

Grew up at Buckner Blvd. Baptist Church, Dallas

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Having a loving family that taught me to appreciate the blessings in my life, and sharing my blessings with others.

I did not marry until the age of 33, but it was worth waiting for! My in-laws are a VERY large Italian family that have always accepted me and treated me as one of their own. Everyone is very close, warm, and affectionate.

After three miscarriages, I was finally blessed with a daughter in 1995 that is the joy of our lives. She has taught both my husband and I that there is no end to the amount of love that we have to give.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

My parents divorced when I was in first grade, and my younger brother and I were raised by a single mother. My father always paid child support and we visited him regularly, but my mother was our rock. There was NEVER any doubt in our minds that she loved us and would do anything for us. A stronger woman I have never met, and I pray daily that I can be half the mother to daughter that mine was for me.

I cared for my younger brother who was HIV positive, had a stroke, was blind and unable to walk for over 14 years. His wife divorced him, took their daughters, and I was the only one that would help. I loved my brother, but also blamed him for the responsibilities that were placed on me and my family that I never volunteered for. From that experience, I learned about caring for people whom others have forgotten about. I have also cared for my mother when she was ill with cancer, and a close friend as she was dying with cancer. I’ve been told often that I have “a way” of personal caring for people that is God given.

I was always a popular kid with many friends and a good sense of humor, but I was a definite ugly duckling. And that stage lasted for many, many years. I didn’t really date until I was well into my mid-20s, but the years were worth the wait. I learned that what is on the inside is WAY more important than what is on the outside.
