S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Bob Book for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

God has given me an ability to break down concept into practical, applicable lessons.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I believe all members of the body of Christ need to be built up. Restoration often comes through reminding others of who and what they are in Christ.

1. Help people understand God’s love through how God has communicated in Scripture.
2. Show people how God permeates their everyday lives, and how we can see even movies and TV with the eyes of Jesus.
3. Teach new followers of Jesus what it means to move closer to God.
I love to work with people who are hungry to learn, no matter their age or where their spiritual walk may have them. I have thrived in lower-income areas, where the Gospel is still often seen as the source of freedom from addiction, poverty, and pain.
Life/community groups, missional communities, in-house teaching, experiential worship.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.
Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace
Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.
Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility
[E]xperience
I grew up Catholic in a house where my parents rarely attended church. I though God was far away and wouldn’t listen to me unless I prayed the exact right prayer. By high school, I was lost. I served in church faithfully but didn’t even know if I believed in God and my life certainly didn’t reflect God. I was invited to a youth service by a friend, and there I found a group of young people who had found answers to their questions and had built a community of love and support for each other. And not only that, but it was actually a good thing to seek and pursue a relationship with God. Because of them, and because of leaders who loved me like their spiritual son, I made a conscious decision to follow Jesus with my whole life.
Hudson United Methodist Church, Hudson, OH (2017-present) – Director of Family Ministries and Crossroads Worship Leader.
Great Commission Fellowship, Wilmore, KY (2014-17) – Pastoral Intern.
Cornerstone Christian Assembly, Barberton, OH (2007-14) – Christian Education director, Preaching Staff, Adult Sunday School teacher, Children’s Ministry Teacher, Pastoral intern.
New Life Christian Church, Waynesburg, OH (2013-14) – Interim Preaching Pastor
Deciding, in my third year of college, to change majors from English education to Bible and theology. It was my first step in pursuing what would become a call to ministry.
Making a commitment to marry my now-wife: I knew God had joined us together, and putting aside my own selfishness to commit to and serve her as my wife has been my greatest joy.
Following God’s leading back to NE Ohio: After seminary, my wife and I had no direction or job prospects. Moving back to NE Ohio and taking a position in an unfamiliar denomination has stretch us in ways we could not imagine, but it had prepared us for future ministry and made us more and more reliant on God.
Grad school uncertainty: As I mentioned above, the uncertainty of post-grad school life weighed really heavily on my family. Being jobless, even for a few months, is mentally tortuous in a society that judges “value” by “employability.” I have so much compassion for those seeking a job, and I understand the need the church has to be a prophetic voice reminding people of their worth outside of a salary.
Unwelcome at church: When we first moved to Kentucky, my wife and I had a horrible first experience at a local church. We tried as hard as we could to make connections but could not connect with any church staff. One staff member actually heard we were visitors and still did not approach us. While everyone has unique needs for a first time visit, this experience made me keenly aware of how unwanted someone can feel at church when they aren’t made to feel welcome.
Bullied at school: Throughout middle school, I was the victim of some pretty terrible bullying. It affected my self-esteem throughout my young adult years. In high school my response was to try to exercise power and bully others in return. I felt empty and lost. It wasn’t until I found Jesus that I figured out how to have self worth and value others.
