Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Reading

2. Spending time with my family

3. Being in God’s beautiful creation

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I like working with all types of people. I like one on one visits with the elderly, and I love teaching Adult Small groups. I also love helping out at Vacation Bible School with the younger children. Right now, my favorite group matches my age/lifestyle and that is studying the Bible with other moms.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I desire to help people learn about spiritual formation practices. Beginning in Seminary, I have discovered a variety of ways to pray, and study, and grow in God. I love teaching people that there are many ways to connect with God.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Grew up attending church, had a powerful experience at church camp and found that the Christian life required intentionality and commitment. In college developed a love for Scripture and prayer, and a deeper desire to serve God always.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Leader/Organizer for all-churc retreat, East Jordan Church, Sterling IL, 2003

Small Group Leader at Knox College, Galesburg IL, 2000-2002

Pastor at Brookville/Elkhorn in Polo IL, Manhattan UMC in Manhattan IL, Marissa UMC, in Marissa IL

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Bible and Life conference through InterVarsity Christian Fellowship… helped me learn to study the Bible

Mission Trips with my home church… worked with Habitat for Humanity and had morning and evening devotionals

Prayer partners and mentors… mostly through formal relationships in college, but also informal throughout my adult life

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

pastor at my grandpa’s funeral “Roger Bartelt deserved to go to hell,” which of course our theology says he did, but was not appropriate for the opening line of the funeral sermon. This makes me sensitive to being overly “evangelistic.”

My parents divorce has removed all sense of judgement about what happens during a divorce, and given me great compassion for those in difficult circumstances

My first job after college was teaching, and I was let go in a way that was painful, and caused a loss of self-confidence. This has made me compassionate to those searching for work.
