This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love serving the Lord and others. Acts of service is my love language. I always find myself doing something for someone else. It gives me great satisfaction. I have continuously served in the church since I was in high school.

I love to give and don’t desire anything in return. I’d rather give than receive and I reallyI’m not necessarily a gift giver, but I like to give in meaningful ways. Ways that help people in need, like financially or with some type of service.

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love to teach people. This is a way that I can impart my values and beliefs on others. I like to make lesson plans and have well planned out curriculum. I must be prepared and familiar with the subject matter. I have over 25 years of experience teaching, instructing, and mentoring people in the public safety sector. I have taught many different types of subjects and was a First Aid/CPR instructor from 1994 to 2020 and let only let it lapse because I retired.

[H]eart

1. Serving and helping others. Through acts of service, behind the scenes work, giving to those in great need, helping people who don’t have the resources I do, etc.

2. Being an active part of God’s mission. Currently I am a year round volunteer with Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child. This is an exciting ministry that takes the Gospel message to children and their families who do not know Jesus Christ as their Savior in countries around the world. I also volunteer for Perspectives on the World Christian Movement, a 15 week college level curriculum that is a prerequisite for most missionary sending organizations. I wan to do more and find the path God has for us.

3. Learning and obtaining knowledge. I love to read and learn as much as I can about topics that pop up and peak my interest. Especially during Bible studies, I like to dive in deeper on my own time and learn as much as I can about the topic at hand.

[E]xperience

I grew up in the church. My family and I were active as far back as I can remember. I went to a Christian School all the way through 8th grade. I’ve known about and have had some type of relationship with God as long as I can remember. I have always believed. I can’t pick one exact moment when I was a child that I came to know Christ. I felt I have always known him. I can say that I remember at a young age sitting in “Chapel” at the Christian school I attended saying the prayer asking Jesus to forgive my sins and to come into my heart. I don’t know how many times I did this as a child and into my youth, but it was a lot, as I wanted to make sure I was truly a Christian. However, I feel the true change happened on a one week mission trip to Mexico when I was 18. There was a group of about 500 high schoolers staying in a “Tent City.” We did VBS to local villages in the surrounding areas and had gatherings in Tent City in the evenings. During one of these evenings, I was moved and accepted the call to rededicate my life to the Lord. I have had one other life changing re-commitment to the Lord which happened most recently after the death of my son.

On a leap of faith, quitting my job and career of 10 years in CA and moving to Coeur d’Alene, ID and immediately getting a great job with the Sheriff’s Office.

Being blessed that my mother chose to move here and she insisted that she either live near us or with us. We were able to obtain a large property suitable for our entire family with the potential for our children to build homes on. Being together as a family and being able to meet each others needs has been a blessing and a great opportunity. Without this property and its opportunities, nothing would be the same.

The resulting positive experience from the worst experience I have ever had when my son died, which was a new direction in our lives, one that is more focused on Christ with a deeper heart to serve and a closer relationship to Christ than I have ever had before.

Learning that my father, a police officer and a church deacon and leader in the church was having an inappropriate relationship with a school crossing guard and had to repent in front of the entire church body because it was in the newspaper. I was never told the truth and learned of it when I was 18 when he had an extramarital affair with the church secretary. He lied about it and denied it then divorced my mom and married the woman 6 mos. later still denying it. He and the church secretary were both kicked out of the church for refusing to repent.

The sudden and tragic death of my 38 year old brother which involved taking his daughter into our home.

The sudden and tragic death of my 16 y/o son and the emotional and spiritual impact it had on our family and friends.
