Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.
Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace
[E]xperience
I grew up in the church community, but didn’t start understanding the Gospel until high school. My parents divorced when I was 14-15 and God used that situation to force me to make a decision on which direction I was going to move in life; towards Him or away from Him. I chose to embrace His path for my life, though it took several more years for me to fully understand what that meant. God brought me from a place of feeling rejected and hopeless and offered me unconditional love and purpose.
Camp counselor (2010-present) at Royal Family Kids Camp. RFKC is what sparked my passion for working with at risk youth. I have also been on the advisory board since 2017.
I was also involved in the Kid’s Church at LCC from 2014-2017.
Small group leader (2011-present) at Vintage college ministries and Lumber City Church. I was an e-group leader at Vintage from 2010-2016 and then left that role to be a Life Group leader at LCC.
I was on the teaching/spiritual formation team at LCC 2014-2018. I helped write the weekly spiritual formation sheet and Parent-link sheet for Kid’s church.
RFKC sparked my passion for working with at risk youth. I began volunteering at camp the summer after my freshman year of college. It was my first experience working with kids and triggered a passion that shaped the rest of my college education as well as my passions for the future.
SCORE mission trip to the Dominican Republic. My high school sent us on a mission trip for our senior trip. I also helped organize groups the three following summers. God used those trips to spark an interest in becoming involved in ministry as well as a heart for over-sea missions. One of my goals is to eventually become a missionary.
My college experience, though expensive, helped me refine some of the natural gifts that God has given me. It played a large role in my development as a follower of Christ and a leader of others.
My parents’ divorce was a very difficult and confusing time as a teenager. Though difficult, it was what God ultimately used to draw me to Him. That experience has also helped me understand and identify with the youth that I have worked with.
Rejection and bitterness are things that I have experienced or at least felt often in a variety of situations. Though I still struggle with both, God has revealed Himself and His love for me most clearly at those times.
I have experienced depression and anxiety at various points of my life. My worst experience with it was likely the 1-2 years after graduating college. I felt extremely disconnected from God and the people I loved. I also experienced a seemingly never ending sequence of financial trouble. Though that season still hasn’t totally ended, God has used the last 4-5 years to reveal a toxic level of independence and self-reliance. I am slowly learning to rely on Him more instead of myself.
