Thank you Sarah Farry for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Giving (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I truly believe that all that I have is a gift from God. It’snot mine, but His.

#2 Gift, Teaching (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I think a big part of this, is that I am a mother. God had entrusted these children to me and I will one day answer for how I raised them. Did I teach them about Him. Also, growing up not in a christian home, I can relate to non-christians.

#3 Gift, Evangelism (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love God and want others to know that kind of love. It’s the only thing that matters. I do struggle with watching others be complacent with their faith. I work hard to draw closer and understand God and it bothers me to watch others content to never grow but still call themselves believers.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I love to be with my family. I enjoy spending quality time with them. I love adventures together, learning new things, playing something, or serving God with them.

2. Helping others. Seeing a need and being able to fulfill that need in a responsible way. By that, I mean not taking from a responsibility that I have, but making it all work together for God’s glory only.

3. Exercising. I enjoy feeling healthy and taking care of the temple God has given me.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I enjoy working with any group. I value an older adult group’s perspective and enjoy being mentored. I value my own age group where I feel I can relate and discuss the pressures of life at this stage. I value youth. This was such a pivotal time in my life that shaped who I am today that I love to help others to follow God’s word because it is worth it! I value the young. I love to be the first to introduce them to my Jesus and I love to help them dig into their bibles and watch the excitement grow as they see what all God had done and learn to know him themselves.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I am excited about our involvement in addiction. Addiction has been a part of my whole life. i love that we can provide resources and be part of a solution rather than a problem.
I am concerned with the church people not growing any deeper. Being too comfortable in their faith. Never taking things to the next level. Thinking that looking just like the “world” in fine. That relates to our children’s ministry too. Church shouldn’t be the only exposure to Christ that our kids get. We should not have Bible trivia and the regular attending children say they know nothing. Two hours a week in not enough to teach them. It should also happen at home. I’m concerned that not enough emphasis is placed on this or what is going on in our children’s ministry. These are our future church members and the future of our faith. This is also true with youth. I hate to see youth members at a community football game acting just like everyone else. Growing into adulthood is hard, but having the foundation in Christ will make all the difference.
Finally, I have concerns with elders. I believe and trust they are doing a good job but worry that there aren’t enough of them to fully hold each other accountable as well as have diversity. It would also be nice to see them involved in the different aspects of the church, like serving in children’s area in able to make good decisions for that area (for example).

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up in a home that knew Christ but didn’t serve Him. My dad was an addict, in and out of jail, and whom also introduced that life to my oldest brother. My mom was left to raise me and my two younger sibling while my dad continued to take from us. It was chaotic but through everything God pulled on me. He sent me friends that would take me to church and showed me how a christian family should operate. As a teenager I longed for help and understanding of God, so a friend and I walked to a neighborhood church. There I met the youth minister that helped me do just that. The church really embraced the youth and our involvement in the church and community. I feel I was saved the night I knelt by my bed, alone in my house one night, praying God to enter my heart. I was baptised June 6th 1997. After college, my soon to be husband and I (he grew up catholic) found Gateway together with the help of my old youth leader.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Humphrey’s United Methodist Church in Tornado, WV taught VBS, volunteered at afterschool program and children’s ministry.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

My involvement in my youth group. My youth leader demanded us to grow deeper and was a mentor to me.

My marriage to my husband. Although it been a working progress, he keeps me accountable and leads our family in Christ.

My mother’s strength. Even out of horrible circumstances, I learned that God reigns.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

My childhood. It made me who I am today. It gave me love and understanding for the lost. It gave me compassion for the sinner.

My time at the Methodist church to a point. I can understand while non-believers believe that religion killed the faith.

My father’s in and out of jail. Looking back through this survey, it may have hurt me though. I love my dad in spite of his downsides but I see that I have less compassion for the incarcerated population. I think that with seeing my father, leads others to Christ in the prison but then to see how he still treats us, its hard for me to not correlate others like him.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. I would love to do full time Ministry work. Not live the conventional life but to just rely on Him. Live in a third world country, work day in and day out at a shelter, work my whole life caring for those that can’t. In that, showing God’s love.

4. Foster and adopt a lot of children. I would have a big house full of kids that needed a home and loving parents.

5. Be involved in something big! Where I could help bring thousands and millions to Christ. To witness that and be apart of it.
