#1 Gift, Administration (100%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
My life experiences have led me to be able to excel in administrative tasks. I have owned businesses, managed businesses and overseen large groups of employees throughout my adult life. My wife likes to tease me because often my mind will focus on efficiency of even the most mundane things.

#2 Gift, Teaching (100%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have always had a passion for teaching. I have led Bible studies, youth groups and worship ministries, as well as teaching employees to do their jobs in my day jobs. The more people learn and know, the better person they can become.

#3 Gift, Prophecy (96%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Bringing God’s truth and wisdom into every facet of life is second nature for me. Everything we do, every reaction we have, every choice we make, big or small, is a reflection of our understanding and connection to God. Challenging fellow Christians to grow in every area of their life based on what the Bible has to teach us is not an option. It’s a requirement.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I love reading, learning and bettering myself. Whether it’s working out or learning a new Greek word and how it fits in the Bible, as long as I am actively doing something to become a better person, I am happy.

2. Challenging people. I love to challenge people’s thought process or action. “Is this really the best way to do this” or “You are trying to justify yelling at your wife, but what would Jesus say about that?” Working with people to come into a closer relationship to Christ gets my heart beating.

3. Getting my hands dirty. I have always loved building things, cleaning things and just working on the land. But beyond that, doing these things for the people that I love is what brings me the true fulfillment. Cleaning the house and doing the dishes, fixing the sink and clearing brush, all give me joy because I am active and serving my family.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Lukewarm Christians. Those people that believe in Jesus Christ but only kind of sort of follow his teachings. They need to be challenged, focused and encouraged to be the person God has called them to be. These people become burning passionate disciples for God who I love to mold and set free to do the same thing.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I went to look for a small group last week. Immediately I saw a desperate need for more couples with children small groups. Other people might not join a small group because of that. So I have offered to go through the steps to start a small group. If it is readily available, the people who are on the fence might just make the jump into the community of small groups.

[A]bilities

My current vocation:

I currently work 2 jobs. The first is a general contractor. Construction.
The second is much more satisfying for me. I am a horse-shoer/blacksmith.

Other jobs I have experience in:

Managing a pool, warehouse, restaurant and casino count room. I have also been a production manager of a cabinet shop before I began working for myself in construction. The most fun job I have had though was as a worship pastor for a church plant in Independence.

Special talents/skills that I have:

I am good at managing people, fixing things(repair) and solving problems. I can also sing and play a few instruments.

I have taught a class or seminar on:

I have taught classes on how to be a lifeguard, how to drive heavy machinery and how to budget their money. Within the Church I have given lectures on many different Biblical topics, taught Bible studies on Acts, Revelation and Daniel, and taught series on relationships and staying true to God in today’s society.

I feel my most valuable personal asset is:

My best asset is probably my ability to prepare, respond and adapt to everything that life(and people) have to throw our way.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up in the Church. First Baptist Church of Blue Springs. I went to Sunday school, grew up in the youth ministry, etc. I believed in God, I just didn’t want to follow what He was teaching. I wanted to play in what society was offering me. After doing just about everything the Bible tells us not to do, I finally calmed down and ended up a bit depressed. I started reading. I ended up reading the Left behind series. I got curious if those books had any Biblical standing and flipped to the book of Revelation and started reading. When I read Revelation 3:16, my world changed. I was convicted, and I started my sprint towards God.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Heartland Church – Blue Springs Mo 3-4 years, Youth ministry and Worship ministry

SoulSearch – Independence Mo, 3-4 years, Worship Pastor(Creative Expressions Pastor)

Lifepoint – Blue Springs Mo, 1 year, Worship Pastor

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Leaving Heartland to help plant SoulSearch. It was an amazing experience to traverse such intense and uneasy waters. It is also where I met my wife.

Deciding to go back to school for horseshoeing. I have been able to start providing for my family better and I get to build lasting relationships with customers.

Getting married. We have not had an easy marriage, but the struggle and challenges that we went through made us both infinitely better people.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

The dissolution of SoulSearch. We tried desperately to make it work, but at the end of the day the lead pastor shut it down. Because of all of this I love what Church Planters are doing and really respect them for that.

Losing my first business to the recession. I may have lost my business but it gave me a greater understanding of the ups and downs life can offer. I found my way to Christ from that struggle, other people who are struggling may just find their way back too.

Before I was married, I had a couple of christian girlfriends who lured me into sin despite my desire to follow God’s Word. Because of this I have learned to stand firm against societal values and put what I know to be God’s truth first in my life.
