[E]xperience

After feeling very lost and alone after losing my dad, my grandmother urged me to join a church. I wanted that sense of belonging, that support system, but I didn’t understand that what I needed was a relationship with and to know Jesus. I joined the wrong church and felt like we were just going through the motions and doing “the right thing” by being at church. I felt mostly unqualified to be at the church because I hadn’t read the Bible and I didn’t know Jesus. I started reading the Bible but wasn’t connecting with anyone to understand and grow in what I was reading. During Covid, I joined my cousin’s virtual Bible study and learned about inductively studying scripture. I also started attending Real Life. At first, I still felt like I didn’t belong because I didn’t know enough about God. I looked back at hard times when I needed more – I needed God – but I didn’t know him and didn’t feel what I expected to – I just didn’t know how to have a relationship but and I do now. Very long story, but I actually don’t know “how” I became a Christian.

My dad was a Police Officer and he spent 32 years serving his community. His dedication was inspiring.

Volunteering with organizations when I was in college like Habitat for Humanity

Working with Scouts – the leaders and the kids

Coming from a “broken home”, feeling rejected by my mom’s side of the family when I chose to stay with my dad.

Being a single mom since day 1 has always been challenging but also very rewarding

Working with some adults in Scouts, the parents are always first to criticize the way something is being done but never willing to volunteer to make something better/easier.
