S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Shelley for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.
Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline
[E]xperience
I grew up in the church. Two times in my life when my faith became stronger and more important to me are when I started having kids, and then later after my dad passed away.
Medina United Methodist Church 16 years
Sunday School Teacher, Food pantry volunteer, Food Pantry Board Member, UMW – local missions, VBS, Education Committee, Radical Roses Leader (4th-6th gr youth)
Burnt Hills United Methodist Church
Burnt Hills, NY
The first Purpose Driven Life Study, where I blindly signed up and was in Lois & Al Korfmacher’s group, with several retired couples. I thought we would have nothing in common but they were all so helpful and encouraging.
The attitude, encouragement, and life example of Lora Temple. She had a special way of “correcting” you where she was so nice you didn’t even realize it until later. She was such a dedicated missionary with many stories to tell.
My high school Sunday School teacher, Mrs. Miller and my Youth pastor, Dr. Don Washburn.
Losing my dad. He suddenly passed away in 2003 from a massive heart attack. In addition to my grief, watching my mom go through hers and supporting her had a big impact. It was so painful, but brought us both closer to God.
My children’s struggles – ADHD, Depression, Tourette’s, appendicitis and kidney stones for my oldest, School struggles with learning, anxiety, and bullying for all 3 at different times. I feel for other parents and kids going through these things and for teachers, esecially special ed. teachers.
Stories of food pantry clients, particularly those who ended up there due to losing their job because of cancer or other illness, and veterans. Anyone could possibly end up in this situation, through no fault of their own.
