S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Shonda Powers for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. [H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Being around friends and family just talking and hanging out. When I had my office to my house for our Christmas Party, that brought me so much joy to fill my house with laughter.

2. Organizing things: my house, other people’s houses, offices, any closet. It brings me peace knowing something went from chaos to organized.

3. Playing with my kids. Seeing them learn and grow.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

College students. I’m in my 5 year teaching college and that age group is fun because they’re adults but they are still figuring out who they are.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Care of our pastors and their families. Being a preacher’s kid, I’ve seen some dark things that can happen inside and outside the church to families in full-time ministry.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Being a preacher’s kid I grew up in church and knew Jesus in my head. I had someone tell me “just because your dad is a preacher doesn’t mean you will go to heaven just like a doctor’s kid can’t perform surgery.” That got me really thinking about things and I asked Jesus into my heart.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Main Street Baptist Church; 2007 – 2015 Youth Group (How I met my husband because he was helping with the youth, too.)

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

My parents are both Christians and still happily married (most days) after 42 years.

Moving 6 hours away to go to college at the age of 17.

Getting married and having children.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

My dad was forced into resignation from the church he was preaching at because there was a family that wanted to run things their way. This was right around the time I became a Christian.

I became a Christian at age 9. I was baptized 3 days before my 18th birthday. I was in and out of LOTS of different churches between the age of 9 and 17.

My husband and I faced fertility struggles for about two years prior to getting pregnant with our son through medical assistance. Those two years were probably the hardest emotionally for us. Our daughter was a surprise with no fertility issues.
