[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I love sharing my artistic skills with my grandchildren. I teach them to memorize scripture every chance I get. Teaching them brings me great joy.

2. I love gardening and providing areas in my yard that support bees and butterflies. I feel strongly about protecting what God has created.

3. I like supporting family members less fortunate than me with food, clothes or money. I support z88.3 because their ministry is expansive. I have a former student who began a ministry called Camp Ozone in Tenn. I help support him and his family. I have volunteered in 2C several times and have loved it. I bought my granddaughter a keyboard and am teaching her beginning piano. I volunteer at an elementary school tutoring at risk children.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I’ve been an elementary school teacher for 41 years so I would have to say young school age children.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I like being involved in life groups.

[A]bilities

My current vocation:

retired teacher

Other jobs I have experience in:

I have organized summer camps.
I have taught art in my home.
I have tutored.

Special talents/skills that I have:

God has blessed me artistically and I have used my skills to create murals:
-pregnancy crisis center in Deltona
-two other churches I attended
The Lord gives me ideas. I know that sounds a bit strange but I just get these ideas that could help someone. I hear someone tell about a problem they’re having and right out of the blue or maybe the next day an idea comes to me. Recently, a friend was sharing about taking her dog to the groomer and how he came home so exhausted that he couldn’t even walk. Immediately, the idea came to me to take her dog in shorter periods of time. Maybe over several days. She just shared with me that the groomers agreed to do that and the dogs experience was much improved. She thanked me and now doesn’t have to stress over her dog getting groomed. Yes, it’s simple but it helped someone. This has happened to me my whole life.

I have taught a class or seminar on:

I taught Sunday School for young children….a lot!
I taught a young women’s class but didn’t feel as confident.

I feel my most valuable personal asset is:

I desire to help others.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

My mother was my motivator. She taught Sunday School and ran the Mother’s Day Out Program. We were always involved in church. I loved every part of church. At age 13, I felt the tug at my heart and took the steps toward the alter.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Grew up in Delaney Baptist church in Orlando through age 21.

First Baptist Church in Oviedo age 26 through age 45ish.
I was very involved here:
taught Sunday School; taught or cared for children in the nursery; led children’s church

I was involved with smaller churches with a group of friends and are still close friends today.
Then found the Journey.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

The people I met at First Baptist Oviedo became life long friends. The kind of people who loved me at my worst and best.

After leaving their, I started attending with the Maxey family. Richard was the preacher and choir directer. He was and still is an amazing man of God. I taught school with his wife Paula.

Can’t think of another right now.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

When my son was 14 he was pretty much out of control. Bad attitude, disrespectful, not trustworthy to list a few. I was taking his to doctor to get evaluated for ADHD and bipolar.

Anyway, I got a call from the church that he was not allowed to attend anything unless I came with him. I guess I understood but couldn’t believe they didn’t even attempt to help me in any way. I was very hurt and left the church.

Needless to say, I desparetely needed help and didn’t get it. I began a slow road to depression. I became a single mother when my kids were 2 and 4 so was doing this alone. I never felt more alone than when this happened. Afterwards, I was not inclined to volunteer as much when attending other churches.
