[H]eart
1. I like to go to Bible studies to dig deeper into what the Bible can reveal about how we should live. I would like to help seekers really understand why it is important for them to have faith in Christ.
2. I really like to help other people write well and help edit books and articles. I like to help with doing spreadsheets and organizing things. When I was working, I liked cataloging and indexing.
3. I love to play classical music on my piano, and listen to music. I sometimes imagine that when I get to Heaven I could help play heavenly pianos. I love reading history books, especially about church history and Christian biography.
I like to work with older people, and middle-aged people (I am older). Although I have gradnchildren, I’m not so keen in working with children.
I would like to see the church music program be more diverse, moving beyond merely having a worship band playing current worship choruses. I would like to see some small choirs, more traditional nymns. Most of all, I would like to encourage worship leaders to down down the volume in services–we could hear just fine at a lower volume, and singing songs as loud as possible doesn’t make the music any more spiritual or worshipful.

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.
Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline
Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.
Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility
[E]xperience
I moved to the Boston, Mass. area, believing that if I moved there, I could really be happy. I began going to the Tufts University chapel service (where I worked, not realizing it was a unitarian/universalist institution),went to a young adult group suggested by the chaplain that met in a church in Boston. I began to get uncomfortable with the chaplain’s sermons, which seemed to leave out Jesus Christ. The young adult group I went to became creepy, with people who were not projecting an emotionally healthy atmosphere. One night when I was going to the Boston young adult group, I went downtown, but couldn’t bring myself to go back, so I turned back across the Common toward the Park Street subway station to return home. As I looked across the street before I headed into the subway, I saw a college and career group advertised that was beginning at the moment at the Park Street Church (an evangelical bastion). I decided to go in, and found myself among a joyous, welcoming group of young adults. I stayed, and a young Canadian Mennonite Harvard student (who later became my roommate in Cambridge) invited me to go to the 1st Presbyterian Church in Cambridge. Then later, one the young staff members at Tufts University Library invited me to go to the same church. I felt that maybe God might be telling me something that I should follow up on, and since I was reaching out for something, I decided to go. The first Sunday,I went out with a group of young adults for lunch, and they witnessed to me. More than that, the pastor’s sermons and prayers seemed to be meant specifically for me in a very strong way. I became aware for the first time, that Jesus Christ was a very alive real person that I needed to get ot know. With the help of these young adults, I was blown away, and gave my life to Christ over the course of the next few weeks.
1st Presbyterian Church,Cambridge, Mass., 1968-1973, church treasurer; I served as a staff advisor to the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship group at Tufts University, 1969-1972; Manchester Baptist Church, Manchester, Mass., 1973-1982, choir member, church pianist; Canton First Friends Church, 1982- choir member, led a classical music appreciation group, occasionally have taught a Sunday school class session, volunteer in the church library, on the hospitality team.
Also: went to Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, 1974-1978, received an M.T.S. with a concentration in church history, with courses taken part-time while working full time at Gordon College Library.
I had two great parents, who (although they were not Christians), believe in me and what I could become, and helped to fund my education at Northwestern University
My marriage to my wife Cheryl, who has helped me to develop as a person, and been my partner in beginning a truly Christian family that is being continued by my believing children and their spouses
I lived in a Christian commune in West Gloucester, Mass. from 1973-1982,living with Christian young adults, both men and women, including two Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary students. We learned how to live as Christians, supporting and having fellowship.
I had a period in my twenties when I struggled with depression and a lack or purpose in my life; church people helped me develop a more positive and hopeful outlook on life, and Jesus Christ truly gave me hope and purpose in my life.
