S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Jonathan Boer for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Serving (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am willing to do jobs that need to be done, but sometimes have roles that are not filled. I understand that no job is too small or menial, and I sometimes am willing to be available for ANY job that is open and needed.

#2 Gift, Administration (65%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I can sit with a leadership group and help them agree on tasks that need to be done next, I can take input on what a congregation needs and try to talk directly to people about what we want them to do. I can ask others to help in specific ways. Also, in my role at work I am comfortable assigning work appropriately to others.

#3 Gift, Giving (65%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I can discuss with my wife and we are able to agree relatively easily to sacrificially give our money to various ministry needs.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I enjoy building props for No Longer Music. I like using my creative and construction skills to make things that help their ministry engage more people.

2. I love when I can spend time with my family and children, to help them learn life lessons. I am not afraid to teach children how they should react, what hard jobs they should do in life, to try to teach them work ethic and show them I am willing to serve unknown neighbors, etc. in life.

3. Sometimes I engage strangers and start a conversation. It is not often, but it is something I am not afraid to do (caroling, door-to-door, engaging strangers with specific invitations, etc.)

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Middle/High school kids in a camp type setting I am comfortable with. I also find it relatively easy to engage with single mothers or other struggling caretakers.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Serving on setup teams or sound teams is easiest to me. I am very comfortable with equipment or setting up physical spaces. It takes a little more initiative for me to engage strangers, but I can do it when I have something worthwhile to share with them.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Cousin died and left family without him – I saw the pain this caused

Encountering single mom that had her children taken away from her and was working to get them back.

My wife lost her brother and seeing the pain this caused.
