S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Susan Feryus for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #3 Gift, Giving (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Having been raised in the church, I understand and believe in tithing. I also try to gift above that to people, causes, natural disasters, etc. that touch my heart.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I love to spend time in the lowcountry, and on the beach marveling at God’s creation, immense beauty and strength.

2. I love to spend time with my family and hear them laughing and enjoying themselves.

3. I love to see my patients smile when I interact with them; especially if I’m asking something difficult from them.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I am not an age person. I am adaptable to young and old. I believe we’re the same on the inside. I’m not sure what type means either. I try to be the same person all the time. I guess I would say that passive-aggressive and negative personalities do annoy me. HELP! LOL!

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Youth/Young adults – because they are the future of the church and the world offers so many challenges even with a good foundation
Making biblical truths relevant to today’s life – which keeps people engaged
Shrinking church populations – see note above
Being visible to local community through outreach – so many hurting people

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

having a dear sister/mentor in the faith, “Miss” Pat

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

losing a sibling at a young age; worrying more about what would happen to my parents if something happened to me

difficult relationship with my mother

having been in a verbally, emotionally, and threat of physically abusive marriage and understanding how that could cause some to turn to unhealthy escapes
