S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Susan San Nicolas for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I enjoy discussing and sharing what I have learned from scripture study, I am not an academic but because I love learning, it spills over. I love leading Bible studies, I have found myself in teaching areas such as Sunday School, VBS and Healing Nations especially to children and youth. I love to engage their natural curiosity and even skepticism to draw them into God’s perspective and Truth.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Because I feel discouragement and doubting can erode a person’s self worth and, while it is natural to feel these emotions at various times in our lives, I also think it can be used by the enemy to draw a wedge between a person and the love of God. I’m a good listener and I feel like I often can read the emotion underlying what someone is saying and receive from God the words that person needs to hear. It is satisfying and gives me joy when that happens. In part I definitely think it is because of my nursing skills that nurturing is a natural part of my career and relationships.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love being used by God to draw someone into His love by sharing how God has love me. By using His truth to speak into someone’s life. I found this to be especially rewarding when working with teen girls. Directing them to a passage or account in the Bible that speaks to their life situation and let them experience an “aha” moment. I’m no Billy Graham, but more of a seed planter than a “closer”.

1. Talking with patients and helping them understand their heart condition, physically. In so many cases it can lead to another kind of heart condition too. People can be be pretty devastated by hearing their health problem, especially the heart. I can teach, encourage by coming alongside them. Even pray with them as led and they are willing, which usually they are.
2. Being with my family, immediate family, extended family, church family, all kinds of family! I like to talk, play, laugh, cry, and just be with them.
3. Listen to music. all kinds! I’m a total sing-along and sing-alone (to spare the innocent) kind of person. It lifts my spirit when I need it to, it lets me be quiet and reflective when I need to, it calms me when distressed, It expresses how I feel when I have no words. There is a song or instrumental for every emotion and music really ministers to me. I can be me, I can be closer to God, I can be filled with music.
Just about anyone. Small groups settings mostly where we can be ourselves. I love to learn their stories, and talk about their lives, challenges and God.
RFK, it is so meaningful where ministry happens while doing normal activities like riding a bus, playing a game, singing a song, eating. dressing up and drinking tea, listening.
Prayer ministry, It is such a privilege! I miss prayer partners.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.
Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline
[E]xperience
Grew up in the church, going was the right thing to do. It was important to be a good person, respect God. I enjoyed church as a child and young teen. I was baptized as an infant and confirmed in Jr. High. As an older teen I wandered away from church and God played less of a role in guiding my life than the cultural norms of the day. I still called myself a Christian, but clearly made choices inconsistent with that assertion. God was not the Lord of my life, I did not have a relationship with Jesus and I didn’t even know I didn’t. After marriage and the birth of my first child, I had a desire for her to learn about God, she needed to. and I wanted to go back to church too. I didn’t really recognize the tug of the Holy Spirit as creating that desire in me. I wanted to learn more, be active in the church “belong”. In my late 20’s, I took a Holy Spirit and You class taught by a young seminarian. It revived my spirit, I realized my need to have Jesus as my Savior and Lord. I re-dedicated my life to Jesus and I became hungry to read and understand Jesus through scripture and discuss and share what I was learning.
St. Pauls, Modesto: Sunday School Teacher, Leader of Sunday School, VBS director, Youth Group Leader, RFK Camp Nurse, then co-leader. Served one term on Vestry as we changed from St. Pauls to Wellspring
Wellspring: prayer ministry: prayer partners, Women’s Ministry Team then Leader the last 2 years, subbed in Sunday School and Children’s Church. Continued in RFK now For The Children, currently on Vestry
Para Church Ministry: Healing Nations – children’s teacher and song leader (I play a mean cassette) Teen girls group leader, co-ed teen lesson teacher on a rotational basis, Girls Club co-leader
Joining a prayer group at St. Pauls in my early 30’s with Evan Spencer as the leader. He was a gifted prayer warrior and taught me much about the ministry and power of prayer
The Holy Spirit and You class. Understanding Who the Holy Spirit was, getting a prayer language which was so freeing in which I could pray and sing and feel so close to God.
Bible Study Fellowship: fed my thirst for the scripture in such an indepth way I had never experienced
The loss of my son, whom we named Matthew, through miscarriage. just entering 2nd trimester. Would have been my only son, though I certainly cherished my 3 daughters at the time, now 4. It was a deep sorrow,
Experiencing marital problems that could have led to divorce, had my husband and I not decided to forgive, and move on in marriage. Prayer, the Holy Spirit and Scripture softened my heart. I did a lot of leaning on the Lord, Isaiah 43:2, and a lot of powerful truth in music. There were times it was close, but God stayed closer! Now 42 years.
My parent’ marriage, that’s all I’ll say.
