S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Tammy Smith for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (81%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love to come alongside and celebrate with others, to encourage them when they are struggling, or to guide gently back to truth when they might have a perspective that has strayed.

#2 Gift, Teaching (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I enjoy the pursuit of knowledge, which leads to wisdom. My own personal Scripture study involves finding the roots of words and tracing them back to the original context. From there, I happily share that with others around me.

#3 Gift, Administration (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I very much enjoy doing administrative tasks like typing and working behind the scenes to help the people in front look good. :0)

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I enjoy making things–knitting, crocheting, sewing, scrapbooking… anything that is tactile and has a definite finished product and is also beautiful to behold.

2. Playing in the dirt (gardening, whether flower or vegetable) helps me find perspective and peace. God often speaks to me while I’m weeding.

3. Music is something that has seen me through many, many difficult times in my life, from childhood through the present time. I appreciate being able to give that gift back to God.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I love to work with people who are struggling but really, truly want to make changes to their lives. I get frustrated when people say they want to change and then never make the efforts to do so.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I want to see our church reach outside of itself, to find a renewed mission and purpose, to actively reach out to those who are hurting and need Jesus in our community.

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I don’t have a single moment where I remember being converted, but for as far back as I can remember, I have known that Jesus was walking with me through the trials of my childhood. I knew that He had a plan and a purpose for my pain, if I would only allow Him to work in and through me. I did not grow up in a family of believers, but I did attend a Christian school in grade school.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Mt. Hawley Community Church, Peoria, IL
Secretary for 2 years
Worship team
Small group member

The Grove, Peoria, IL

Worship team

Second Chance Church, Peoria, IL

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

The story of how Second Chance came to be.

Meeting Barb Huebner in Minneapolis, MN when I knew I was coming to Peoria after getting married

My grandparents were the one constant in my childhood; I would not be who I am today without their love and support.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Multiple instances of molestation

Walking my mother through her last divorce

Car accident where I sustained over 4,000 stitches in my forehead because my dad was drunk behind the wheel
