S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Tayla Flatt for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Serving (65%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I delight in being able to be in a position where I am there for the youth with youth leading and getting alongside those that are younger and/or growing in their faiths. Even tasks like Welcome Team – I believe this is such an important role and if and when I can I serve in this area I choose to do so.

#2 Gift, Pastoring/Shepherding (62%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I feel I have this gift as I love to get alongside those who maybe are on the outer or are slightly more shy. I want them to feel connected and as if they belong. I feel I can relate to some therefore getting alongside them is a strength I can use to help build the Kingdom of God

#3 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (56%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am filled up when people love on me with Words of Affirmation – so in a sense, I know the importance of this for some people hence the encouragement given to others

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. My heart beats for the youth of our church – I know this because I get excited to go to youth every Friday to lead even if my life isn’t looking so great. I still yearn to be there for them

2. My heart beats for my community and the people I am round constantly such as my friends, family and colleagues that I see on a regular basis

3. SPORT – something I am very passionate about and brings my joy.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Youth Age – whether that be 10yrs old to 18yrs old. I do often enjoy getting alongside 15-17year olds. I feel this is an age where I can really try and relate to them !!

The wider church supporting the youth is something that I think could be improved

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Grew up in a Christian home – expectation was to attend church with the family till the age of 16 and then we could do what we wanted after that. The expectation to go to church around the age of 15 and 16 frustrated me. I also felt stagnant in my faith due to going to one church for 17 years. Then made the move to Inspire when I was 17 or 18 through people I met at Peter Snell camp while we were leading. Made friends with them and attended Inspire and since then haven’t looked back. As soon as I got involved with the youth ministry I felt I had even moreso found my home. I have always had a deep yearning to connect with Jesus and have a deep relationship with him but often find it hard to do so and still do. But I know he is King always and am so grateful to know we serve a God greater than all.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Whangaparaoa Baptist – involved in a bit of youth leading there – few years

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

My upbringing and where I live – surrounded with good mates both christian and non-christian

My first niece being born as of April 2020

A set holiday destination at Ohope Beach for our whole life. The people that are in that place have had a big impact on my life

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Family Issues – recently divorced parents as of July 2020. Living through a toxic family environment for 21 years

Alcoholic Mother

Grief – a handful of very important people passing away over the past few years that really helped shape parts of my character

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. 1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Help those who cannot help themselves every day – mission trips and travel to reach the poorest of the poor

4. Work to eradicate all addictions across the globe – drugs and alcohol particularly

5. Lead everyone I come into contact with to Christ
