[E]xperience

Having been brought up in a church from early years I found Christ when I was 16 outside of my local church. I had gone with a family to a Don Double crusade meeting in a local village, mainly because they had a good looking son a year older than me, and there heard clearly God’s call on my life and gave my heart to Him in June 1971. I continued in my local church but a year or so later met Bill and started to go on Sunday evenings to a Pentecostal church where I learnt more about God’s love and the power of the Holy Spirit. There have been some dips in the intervening years but I know that God has always been with me, loving, guiding, correcting and hugging when needed.

City Praise Centre, Gravesend. Served in the Sunday School and kids ministry, Worship Team, Baptism ministry, Small groups ministry as an overseer and group leader, Councillor and Marriage course leader and latterly as a full time paid member of staff in charge of Pastoral Ministry. During my time at the church I undertook a 2 year Theology course. In total I served in the church for 30 years but served within the Leadership team for 10 years. I only finished serving at CPC when we moved to Wales.

At New Life Church, I have served in a Drop-In Team helping those who are socially marginalised, on the Worship Team, was instrumental in setting up a Foodbank for the local community. We ran a small group in our home and I was asked to speak on several occasions on a Sunday and at a women’s conference. For two years I was a Trustee and the Company Secretary, Bill and I served on the leadership Team for about 5 years.

Meeting and Marrying my husband and ending up going to the church where we served for 30 years together, under two amazing men of God.

Having our 3 children and seeing them happily married to christian partners and all serving God in their local church, along with their own children.

Having a Praying Grandma who I know never stopped praying for me until she died. I may not have appreciated it at the time but in the years following I am so grateful for he rand it has encouraged me in prayer all my life

Losing my Father very suddenly 3 months after Bill and I got married, made me realise the importance of making each day count in my walk with Jesus. It has also helped me to empathise with others in a similar situation.

Going through a severe financial crisis when our children were young, helped me to learn that trusting in God and His promises are all that you need to go through life. Nothing else compares to that and His promises are yes and Amen in Jesus. So many testimonies came out of that time that I have been able to share and encourage others with over time.

Being diagnosed with cancer in 2006 could, for some, would seem a real problem but I was able, once again, to tell people how my trust in God and His promises helped me and my family through some dark days. This testimony has helped many others in a similar situation.
