S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Ventry “Trey” Smith III for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Serving (96%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I’ve always been the kind of person to serve rather than be served. It’s an honor to serve the Lord and be used by Him. I just thoroughly enjoy serving.

#2 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (87%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
My mom has bi-polar disorder. So growing up I was always the one to help encourage and motivate her. She calls me her “cheerleader” so that’s a plus!

#3 Gift, Mercy Showing (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I know I’m not perfect and neither is anyone else but Jesus. I try to show mercy because we are human but loved by God.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. It’s honestly all about helping others and serving others for the kingdom.

2. I absolutely love Christian Hip Hop. It’s been a passion on my heart for years. I’ve volunteered for a website based out of Chicago called New H2O for about 4 and a half years. Though I am no longer with them.

3. Being able to volunteer and assist others with different events, specifically working merch tables for artists have been huge to me.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I love working the most with friends. Honestly middle aged adults are honestly some of the best people to work with. They’re mature and most seem to have it together haha.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

It’s all about Christian Rap and ministering to people who are lost. To me, Christian Rap is an open door that I can share Jesus with. People who are struggling with porn and addiction also seem to interest me. They need to know that Jesus is the answer and nothing else is.

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I became a Christian at the age of 4. However, I had a revelation in my teens and I overcame giving up secular music and that was a big change for me living for Christ.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Liberty Christian Fellowship, Portsmouth, VA. I can’t exactly remember the years involved but I went there from age 4 until about age 22. I helped with VBS over the years, the youth group and also working in the nursery. My parents used to clean the church so I would also help them clean and my parents were also deacons so I would always be the first to arrive and last to leave.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Being able to overcome the addiction of secular music has completely changed my life. I’m able to bring up Christ every time I mention what kind of music I listen to.

Honestly, joining the military has impacted my life forever. It was such a personal building experience for me and has helped shape relationships.

Being promoted when I was a security officer has helped shape my outlook on my work ethic being that wherever I go, I’m noticed by my work ethic and can work my way up the ladder.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

I don’t want to sound morbid here but I did have an unexpected birth of my son to my now girlfriend. It was negative at first but now is a blessing because it made me really understand what others go through and made me realize how much I judged other people for having a child out of wedlock.

It kind of crushed me when I joined the military because I wanted to do Security Forces and become a civilian police officer but was turned down because I have partial color blindness

My parents almost divorced when I was a teen but it helped me realize that when two people love God and are committed to each other, anything is possible.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. I would want to change the world through the outlet of Christian Rap. Possibly hosting a radio show or something along those lines.

4. I would want to become a Chaplain’s Assistant in the military to help serve God and people at the same time.

5. I would want to volunteer so much more than I am now.
