S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Valerie Paschalis for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. [H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Express what I’ve learned in my life in hopes that it will help someone else.

2. Support women and children. When a woman rises, she lifts her whole community! And love, care, and structure in a child’s life can make a big difference to them as an adult.

3. Help with people’s material needs, and show love to people of various cultures and religions.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

People a few years younger than me, because I feel like I have something to teach and share with them; people my age, because I can verbally process what I’m feeling and learning with them; and people a few years older than me or my parents’ age, because I feel like I can receive comfort and guidance from them.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Serving the homeless, racial reconciliation, and especially mental health in the church.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up in a Christian family and said the prayer to receive Jesus when I was seven. I always was involved in volunteering for the church, but now have shifted my focus to feeling God’s love and healing, and have that spill over to the people around me.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Change Collegian Network; member, evangelist, performer, involved 2 years.

Cornerstone Christian Church, Sunday school teacher, involved 3 years.

Community Bible Study, girls core group leader, involved 6 years.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Attending drama class in high school. It made me excited about acting and the possibility of becoming a powerful communicator for Christ.

God comforting me upon the loss of my first relationship. It showed me that God welcomes my grief and honestly, and that he will show me love and comfort.

Participating in the Bible Bee in high school, because it supplied me with a lot of scripture that I often say in my head when I’m stressed or sad.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Having a verbally abusive grandmother. It taught me that showing love is not the same as not speaking up under abuse, and that I can have boundaries to protect myself.

Being in a codependent relationship with my best friend. It showed me that I have the tendency to bury my own problems in helping others. It also taught me that the only person I can control is myself, and that I can verbalize my needs and take good care of myself.

I felt very judged by the mother of the guy I liked through my teens. This taught me that it’s okay to be true to myself, it’s okay to say what I feel to trusted people, and it’s okay that not everyone approves of me.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. To be an actor

4. To experience healing in my mental health journey, and to be an advocate for that same healing for others.

5. To be of practical support and inspiration to my family and friends by having good work-life balance, managing my home effectively, being generous with my money, and standing up against societal ills.
