S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Valerie Becktell for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have compassion and empathy for people who are traumatized, shut-ins,
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I’d like to help in some way in the back ground, in some way that helps people.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Although I have a desire to help people, I don’t consider myself a teacher. I have a hearing disorder. I’m not hard of hearing, but speech goes by too fast for me, so I cannot follow a sermon, or even someone’s sentence. I catch a few key words and make a guess at what might have been said and what answer might satisfy a person. I have trouble expressing my thoughts as the words don’t want to come to me and that’s because I have cognitive and memory problems that I was born with. It’s not the same thing as memory loss, the words I hear most often are not getting into my memory to begin with my doctor says. I tried teaching a Sunday School class of second graders once and it didn’t work well, because I could never remember what to say, or the words to say it in even. I had to read the teacher’s notes to the children to give the lesson. It was very hard. I’d rather help out in a class or encourage someone one-on-one.
[H]eart
1. Help others who have some disadvantage in life, such as reading to a blind person, or someone who can no longer read, taking a disabled person to church. Perhaps in some other way but I don’t know of what else I’d like to do. I have desire and sense a need to tell others about Jesus but I can never remember what I want to say out loud. I have a document that I wrote up to share the gospel that I’ve shared with a few on email, I like to do that because the words are all there, but when I want to share the message verbally I can’t recall the words to communicate the basic truths.
2. I enjoy reading biographies of Christians who did great things with their life.
3. I enjoy hiking
I like working with people of all ages.
This is what I am not sure about, but again my answer would be the same here as the one I wrote for your question, “three things that I enjoy or bring fulfillment in my life.”
Abuse/violence
Disabilities
[A]bilities
I work in production putting literature and parts in bags. It’s not work I enjoy it’s just a job. I needed a job where I could sit since I can only do limited standing, and where I wasn’t dealing with constant communication due to my disabilities with communication.
My other jobs I have experience in are ones I can’t do anymore. One was customer service, but that was very difficult and stressful with my disabilities with communication. I was in customer service before I was diagnosed, no doctors could tell what was wrong with me when I was growing up. But it was finally diagnosed in recent years well into my adulthood.
People say that I take good photographs of scenery. People said I played the flute well, but that was before I developed TMJ in my jaw, and due to jaw pain when I play I can no longer play the flute. Playing other musical instruments such as piano was hard for me since there were two or more lines of music. I cannot read music with two or more lines of music, it’s too hard, that’s why I picked flute because I only have one line of music to read. Other than that I don’t feel I have any talents or skills due to my disabilities with especially verbal communication.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.
Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility
[E]xperience
My mother read a Bible story to me and afterwards prayed to receive Christ when I was 6 or 7 years old. I grew up not understanding the Bible at all, other than I believed that Jesus died for me so that i could go to heaven. When I was a adult I went to see a pastor who answered all my questions on the Bible and helped me understand the Bible and what people mean when they say things in general too. That helped me to have a new life and understand the basics of the Bible better, but I still have trouble applying the Bible to my life because of my disabilities with communication.

Talking to a pastor about my questions on the Bible and the Christian life and what to do with some personal problems I was struggling with.
It was only recently I talked to the pastor about these things that helped me so much so I really haven’t had a chance to have anything else impact me.
