#1 Gift, Serving (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I believe as Christians need to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Everywhere we go, not just in church. As a former teacher, that is my heart. If there is a need I am aware of I am willing to serve.

#2 Gift, Giving (59%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I came from a home that didn’t have a lot, but my dad was always helping others. I sometimes think it’s the simple gifts of time, seeing the need and responding with gifts, and giving monetarily but also encouraging those in need.

#3 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (56%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
A listening ear or kind words can build the body of Christ. I am moved by the encouragement I have had in my life time, and feel that is a real motivator and comfort for each others.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was raised in a Christian home, and made a decision at 12 years old to follow Christ. Although I was a young child, I do not think that i truly begin growing in Christ until I was much older. I discovered that a personal relationship was lacking in my early christian life.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Taught Sunday school in Birmingham, AL at Shades Mountain baptist Church. Children and teens, small group mission for children. About 15 years- while my children were growing up.

Baptism committee- helped assist new believers in getting ready for baptism. This involved assistance in dressing room and help in the baptismal pool. At SMBC- for approximately 10 years.

I also taught Vacation Bible School while my children were growing up.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Later in life, getting my teaching degree. I was definitely goal driven, but it made a big change in my view on life and others.

Teaching children and interacting with parents. I learned to help others and experience compassion for others, but also I was a mentor in helping their child succeed.

I have had the opportunity to experience diversity. I taught in a racially diverse school with some high-risk students. I taught the very bright students, and the at risk children. I learned to show compassion, love others where they were, and mentor others. It was definitely a personal growth time spiritually in my life.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

My husband went into his own business as I was finishing my college degree. There were ups and downs with being a small business owner, but we learned a lot. Working and supporting through this time, taught me many things. Perseverance, trust, endurance, and many other qualities. Bottom line is that God has to be the focus to get through difficulties in life.

Loosing my dad and son in law in the span of 2 years was very hard on me. I have not experienced death in such a deep personal way. It was very hard, but I could not have made it through this time without the prayers of many, and the outpouring of love for our family. I spent much time in God’s work and continue to do so. I have probably read the Bible more in the past 3 years of my life.

One of my son’s also went through divorce in his early years. This was also a hard strain on our family. But,, I want to mention that in my younger years of life, I took many things for granted. Experience is a good life lesson. I have learned to be more compassionate, not as judgmental, and accept others where they are. I have learned to encourage others as I have been encouraged.
