S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Edie Bowen for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Evangelism (90%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Since I was a young child my gift was a personal relationship with God. I had many challenges from birth that I came to understand that I learned from so that I can be empathetic and use my faith and knowledge of Christ’s grace and love for us to be an example of the Lord who I know as the Word, The Trinity, LOVE , Heavenly Father.

#2 Gift, Giving (90%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I do not have a “home church”. My giving is directed toward homeless shelters, people who are struggling and need a tangible “word” or example of ways the Lord answers prayer. Paying it forward in cash has led me to many conversations with other members of the body of Christ who have a need to hear about God’s love and will for their lives. Giving in this way is a different type of ministry that I have been led to follow. These poor people may work 2 or 3 jobs and still not make ends meet. If they are unable to make it to church this may be the only way they hear about God’s love and direction for their lives. Praise God for every person I’ve been blessed to share my faith and love for the Lord with throughout my life.

#3 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (87%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Wherever I am I feel I am in the midst of the body of Christ and I ask the Lord to use my voice for whatever any person needs to hear and those words just seem to come from somewhere not in my physical mind. Throughout life people have been drawn to me and shared their struggles freely with me … a complete stranger. I used to think it odd. It didn’t take me long to realize one of my gifts was that I emanate peace, good will and love that others feel. It’s God placing me where He needs me to be at any given moment. I am not a perfect human. I don’t feel “above others in worth”. I feel blessed beyond measure that I have that peace that passes understanding and have opportunities to share with others how to find that peace.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Share my love for God’s promise of eternal life.
Communicate how being faithful has blessed my earthly life.
Pray. Pray for God’s will and for all of us to learn to rely on our faith and belief that one day we will reap God’s promises.

2.

3.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Whomever God puts in my path.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Jesus went out among the multitudes. Even though I was brought up in a Christian school and even taught Sunday School for a time I find that I can’t commit to attending weekly services but I do love hearing and reading the word. I wish churches would do more small group evangelising in impromptu situations. My heart soars when I hear groups of Christian singers joining in song in a crowd. Jesus went to the people.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

O my. Before anyone ever shared the name God with me and before I ever attended a church I would lay in my bed as early as age 4 and have long talks with God. I didn’t understand fully who that was at the time or how I knew Him but I know that is when God chose me as one of His children. As 6th in a family of 10 children with a seriously alcoholic father and a victim of incest by an elder sibling my life was far from peaceful or joyful, however, I’ve always known my Heavenly Father had a plan for my life…even during times I fell away He never gave up on me.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Attended Friedens Lutheran School in Kenosha, WI from 5th to 8th grade. Was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church from 1966 to 1978 where I was a Sunday School Teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher. I also helped in the school office when my children attended Friedens from 1982 until 1987.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

The miracle of the birth of my children.

Having a Mother in law who was the first person that loved me unconditionally.

Being blessed with the gift of esp which led me to the realization that I should believe that which I have known from the beginning. In other words, I believe God’s word is in us all via the Holy Spirit and when we are ready to understand and have knowledge of the meaning so we can share it with confidence.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

My siblings and I enduring sexual and emotional abuse and neglect by the people who were meant to be our protectors.

Being there at the deaths of many family and friends of all ages including holding a stillborn child and my brother as he took his last breath.

Growing up in an environment that caused me to be diagnosed with PTSD as an adult.
