[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up in the church. My family has traditionally been Catholic but I was raised by my great grandmother and grandma and they didn’t really go to church anymore due to health issues. They let a friend take me to a protestant church, but bought books about Christianity for me. I became a believer sometime in elementary school but was not baptized until attending Gateway. I did not attend a church quite some time trying to figure out where I belonged and because I had a bad experience. I did live with a pastor’s family (his wife was a friend) because of home problems while I was in high school and attended church with them. Gateway is the first church I put declared membership at as an adult.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Winter Jam encouraged me to open back up to a church.

Interning as a caseworker for an HIV/AIDS program.

Learning how to run my own classroom at the Salvation Army.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Family abuse and dysfunction

Having a therapist who forbid me to go to church.

Dealing with unfair court procedures.
