S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Zach Martin for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Evangelism (78%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I grew up in church with a father who was a pastor. I have always been around biblically sound teaching and has given me a foundation for my adult life. I am a barber, and that has given me the ability to talk to thousands and thousands of people over the years and learn about how each one grew up and what they believe. So many times I have had the opportunity to share the gospel with people who are curious and looking.

#2 Gift, Teaching (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
My dad was a pastor, and I led worship for 13 years and was in a christian band for 5 years. It is my desire to use my struggles and my life to help others understand they aren’t alone and that God has a purpose for each of our lives.

#3 Gift, Pastoring/Shepherding (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Again, dad for a pastor and grew up in Christian school, leading worship for a long time, and playing in a christian band. All of that has let me see the good/bad/ugly of church. Because of my job it has given me a softness and compassion for unbelievers who really have a hard time believing God is real. I grew up with few doubts because I was surround by it from a young age, until I became an adult and really had to grapple with the realness of my beliefs. I can see how difficult it must be for someone to believe when they grew up in a divorced home around drugs/alcohol/etc and constant negativity. I desire to show them they aren’t alone and that I’m far from perfect, and I need Jesus just like everyone else.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I love my family. I love to be there for them and spend time with them.

2. I love to play music. I have played guitar for 17 years and led worship for 13 years, and played in a Christian band for 5 years. It’s a gift that God has given that I want to use to serve him.

3. I love to hunt. Ever since I was young, I truly love and enjoy being in the woods. Its one of my biggest hobbies/passions (maybe my biggest haha).

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I love to work with guys roughly my age and older who I can relate to and have common interests.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Serving on a worship team excites me the most based on the gifts that God has given and the experiences he has let me go through with the Christian band I was in. Issues that concern me the most are large church divisions (which can be caused by a number of things) and desire to see unity in the church. I have seen multiple horrible church splits that were so pointless and needless and hurt so many people.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was saved at a young age (4 or 5). My dad led me to the Lord. As I got older, I went through my doubts and questions and really solidified my beliefs in my teens.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Helped lead worship on and off throughout my 7 years at Calvary Chapel Christian School (Orrington, ME)

Led/helped with worship at Calvary Chapel Belfast for 5-6 years (Belfast, ME)

Led/helped with worship at Winterport Baptist for 7 years roughly (Winterport, ME)

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Meeting my wife. She has changed my life for the better in so many ways.

Having children.

Living in a small space for an extended period of time with my wife and 3 daughters (seems like a negative but we have learned so much in this season of life).

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Church split that was pretty violent and a lot of trust was broken. Was a breaking point for my spiritual walk at the time, and really made me figure out if I truly believed.

I was in a christian band that was doing fairly well and they moved to Nashville. The band broke up due to some serious lifestyle sin that one of the band members was living in. It rocked my world at the time.

Living in a small space with my family (which has been a positive and a negative). We have been in a season of unknowns and wondering at times what God is doing and why He has kept us where we are for so long. There seems to be a light at the end of that tunnel and we have learned a lot of contentment and other lessons throughout this season. Discover Church has truly renewed my walk with the Lord and I’m thankful for this new church family.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Leading Worship/Writing music specifically for the Church and what they are currently going through as a source of more personal worship times.

4. Growing my hunting show to a place where I can travel more regularly and make an income from it.

5. To grow a church worship team to a place where they could record their own albums and write meaningful, Biblically sound music for the church body.
