This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have always had a heart for those who are hurting or in difficult situations. I was able to really practice this gift since young age through mission trips and also learn from those who were practicing mercy showing on those mission trips.

I love being able to encourage others. I have been positively impacted through people who have not only encouraged me but pointed me back to Christ.

[E]xperience

Having grown up in church all my life as well as most of my family/ relatives being Christian, I never really had to think about what going to church meant or believing in God meant for me personally. When my family moved from Korea to the US when I was 13 years old, I suddenly had a lot more time to spend with myself. Through these times, I had the opportunity to experience loneliness and the warmth God’s presence when I allowed myself to receive God’s love.

Trying to understand the warmth and love I felt, I decided to go to the retreat my 7th grade summer and there I accepted Jesus Christ as my one and only Savior. I prayed and prayed that I would fully feel His presence and when I did, there was so much joy and warmth in my heart that I wanted to share it with as many people as I could.

Following the retreat, I decided to join Oklahoma mission trip the year after, and throughout my journey with God, through all the ups and downs, He has provided me with amazing community and group of Godly people who loves on me and points me back to the cross when I feel lost.

My family moved from Korea to the US when I was 13 years old. This has allowed me to socialize easily with strangers as well as being able to push myself out of comfort zones.

Going to college in Boston has allowed me to really work on who I am now and who I want to be as I “grow up.” The opportunities to explore a new city by myself and build a whole new social network and a support system has allowed me to really grow.

Meeting the people I did during my first mission trip – not only the children and friends I was able to love on and share the gospel with, but also those who served with me. They allowed me to see and feel what it is like to share love that has been poured out to us from God even at a young age of 8th grade.

I have an experience of quite an emotionally abusive relationship from when I was very young in 7th grade. This has shaped me into a very empathetic individual with a willing heart to listen to others who are experiencing difficult situations, no matter how young they are.

I had a pretty tough first year of college! Not because of the academics necessarily but because of quite a bit of culture shock and home sickness. I am so open to hearing out from those who have concerns on their environmental and social situations because now I deeply understand how much impact these factors can have on my mental, spiritual, and physical health.
