S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Jackie Foster for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Teaching (93%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love the Word of God. At least what I have been blessed to know of it so far. And I want to know more! But I can’t just know to know. It must be transormative and passed along to others that they, too, can be transformed!

#2 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (90%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I want to advance the primary goal of glorifying God. Truly seeking first the Kingdom of God adds the rest.

#3 Gift, Serving (87%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
There’s not much I won’t do…in fact, I cannot think of anything just now. I would not be the first in line to work with children or to do monetary compensated work at this time as I’m enjoying the freedom to pursue God’s “what’s next” outside of that but will do whatever God leads me to do.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Being with women…in all ages, phases, gifts, graces, challenges…that love Jesus and want to live for Him, with Him, through Him and by His Word.

2. I like meeting practical need. My favorite and most blessed way to do that right now is to come alongside folks (presently two ‘alone’ senior citizens) who need help keeping their affairs and finances in order.

3. I like continuing to look well to the ways of my household. This is changing by the day and takes a lot of work to adapt to that new landscape (marital, supporting the kids, and ministering to aging parents/extended family) but I’ve never known how to trust God as I am learning to do during this time.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Not necessarily children.
Women and basically all other age groups are great!

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Help with finance administration.
Looking forward to participating in global missions in the next few years.
Maintaining intimacy within the body and not doing things/following the cookie cutter path for growth that everyone else does (leading to a consumer church).

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Having heard the gospel preached my entire life, God opened my eyes, ears and heart to receive and respond to it at 17. This changed my life in every way…then and now.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Grace Church on the Mount
Netcong, NJ
About 4
Celebrate Recovery Leader (1), Stephen Minister (2), Peer Counselor (1)

Trinity United Methodist Church
Hackettstown, NJ
About 20
Treasurer (6), Just about every other role…leader to servant, Small Group Leader

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Working recovery from the pit over the last 8 years.

Women in the Word where we sharpen each other. I have been in many such groups and relationships that fuel that statement but the women of GBC are like none other.

Raising my children to adults.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

The pit of sin and near divorce 8 years ago. I have greater compassion and “get” grace on a whole new level. I will never again allow anyone or anything define me except Christ.

Leaving the Methodist church. I have a GREAT appreciation and passion for the capital “C” church, far better discernment, grieve not having more courage to speak boldly in love (while intending to the next time I find myself in a similar situation) and will always cling to a pure dispensing of the Word. Not leaving sooner is one of the greatest regrets I have because of the impact to my marriage and sons.

Dealing with extended family “personalities” is teaching me to love like Jesus.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Be equipped and/and then teach women the Word.

4. Have a ministry to help people with practical/financial matters.

5. Be a chaplain (in a women’s recovery environment).
