S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Benjamin Boren for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Administration (50%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Teaching would be more of an acquired taste toward discipling others and learning scripture.

#2 Gift, Evangelism (50%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Giving has been from before I can remember, I have enjoyed it and studied it my whole life. God speaks of $ in scripture too often for me to not study it and want to be challenged to give it.

#3 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (50%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Evangelism is also developed early as I’ve never met a stranger, and like a good dialogue.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I’d love to tell you “church” answers but best I can do is fellowship…love to fellowship, meet people, connect dots ands strengthen influence with others.

2. I also like alone time outdoors, weather snowboarding down a mountain or sitting alone in a deer stand I crave and need to be alone in my head. This is really where God and I can have some conversations and I can be challenged.

3. Experiences… I’m not a gift guy. I want to provide and share experiences with people close to me mainly family. I want my children and wife to look back at them with fondness and joy at the experiences we shared together.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Young adults seems to be the most rewarding, helping a young married couple or dating couple start life right, debt free, ahead of many career and spousal traps is rewarding.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Financial strength, developing good habits today where the church can work and serve without burdens is a big deal to me. I think our largest ministry may be in the USA and the church itself being too “Americanized” to worship Christ acceptably with “reverence and Godly fear”.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Early in life w mom age 8

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

HBC 2020- present
HBC 2004-2011
Deacon, SS Teacher adults and college career, Youth, World Changers, Royal Ambassadors on Wed nights, Mens Ministry

Riverbend Baptist-2011-2020
Small group leader, Leadership Team, Mens Ministry

Kairos Prison Ministry- 2005-2020 (Sometimes more regular during the years and Covid has stopped it for now)
Kairos Parchman MS (Units 29, 30 & 32) I have served every position in the Kairos Church lead as an Outside Lay Leader Kairos #25 in unit 29.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Kairos, non denominational church. We go into prisons and build a church the inmates take the church run it and we routinely go back to attend services and disciple along side the lay and clergy inside the facility.

Riverbend Church is filled with the Holy Spirit! With their small group platform it sharpened my resolve as a Christian and helped my growth as a follower of Jesus.

Owning my own business has shaped me as much as any single thing I have ever done. From ethics to honesty to living a purposeful life for Christ in my business it is a major part.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Raised tough with a lot of verbal abuse in my home. Laura and I will not have that and my children will not go through that.

Lack of ethics and honesty from church leaders and even Clergy is un-acceptable and I could never sit by and tolerate. I have and would call it out if I see it.

I’ve dealt with drug addicts and alcoholics a lot of my life, while I lack compassion for the addict I do sympathize with their supposed loved ones for what the addict is putting them through.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Raising or even gifting six figures in a year to a ministry God spoke into being.

4. Leading a mens group over a 100 strong who lived as servants, loving God, their wives, and made a difference in the world.

5. Move to an area of America and minister to people directly through work or the church.
