S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Danielle Nelson for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Giving (81%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
The Lord has blessed me with steady supply from His Hand, even in times where it looks like it would not work out. Because I do not need to live a flashy life I tend to have a buffer. Because I have an innate urging to give to those who seem to be in distress it comes naturally. It is not always there, but usually when I see someone in a financial bind the first thing I want to do is give to try and solve it. I come from a long lineage of quietly generous givers.

#2 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I really do not know where it comes from. Sometimes I get tired of talking about it because it is my profession as well, but whenever I have the opportunity to genuinely “hold space” for someone, it’s like something blossoms inside of me. It is a gift directly from God.

#3 Gift, Teaching (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
God has made my brain such that I understand concepts in an organized way, and I’m often able to see where people are missing steps in a process leading to their confusion. I understand the Bible in this sort of way, and the scriptures tend to leap off the page at me, and I tend to prefer practical application rather than esoteric understanding.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was doing very well in life but struck by a profound sense of meaninglessness. It crashed down on me one night, and I called my mother, who was not a Christian at the time, and she said “maybe it’s a God thing”. I asked my then partner at the time when he came to visit if we could pray, and for the first time I was praying and crying but it was tears of joy and all of a sudden I understood the need for a saviour, and how Jesus Christ was that Saviour, all the pieces just came together.
