[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Family, I love being with my family, whether it be visiting, helping with a project, taking care of grandchildren. Spending time with my Mother who is 93, who is getting over the death of my Father the 12 of April.

2. Baking and cooking, especially when I am doing it to give to others.

3. Gardening, when I am working in my flower gardens, I feel so close to God, to plant things and watch them grow. A miracle only God can create.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

For many years I worked for the Lenawee County Health Department, I went to all the schools in the county testing hearing and evaluating speech. As I have grown older I don’t feel I have the patience for children like I used to. I love being with babies and recently discovered I enjoy the elderly.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I’m still fairly new to the church and in the learning process, I would like to find my place in the church.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up in a Christian home with parents who set a good example, how to be grateful for what God has given, and always thankful. When my husband was killed in Vietnam, I felt God had deserted me. Being left with an 18 month child to raise on my own. As he grew I got back to going to church and got involved, but it seemed to be a routine. When my son was 17, I remarried and within a month, I knew I had made a mistake, the man I married was not the man I dated for 3 years. Because of my strong beliefs, I didn’t believe in divorce and stayed in the marriage for 21 years. Then one day on my way home from work, I was very upset and sort of cried out to God for help in making the right decision. All of a sudden it felt like someone had put their arms around me and held me tight. At that moment, I felt a warmth come over me and a calmness I hadn’t felt in a long time. It was like I was being told I could leave and go on my own, and things would be okay. It was such a strong emotional feeling, I will never forget. Since that day I have prayed over every decision I have made, and things have worked out. That was the day I turned back to God, and thank him every day.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

At Ogden Church, I was a Divorce Care facilitator for 5 years.
2007 — 2012. Also during this time I spent 1 night at the homeless shelter during the weeks our church covered.

While I was married to my second husband, I attended a Catholic Church with him.

I taught Sunday School and lead Vacation Bible School, at the Presbyterian Church in Palmyra, from 1972 not sure when I stopped, it was many years.
